It's too bad Infiniti would not at least offer the Brembo's as an option. I would pay more for them and I don't track my car. They sure put a nice finishing touch on the stock 18's...

This just in: Ferrari V12 engines use too much gas, will be using Honda Civic motors to prevent further complaints.
Get real Infiniti. Stop being cheap! The Brembos are awesome and noone can say otherwise. Just admit it was done to cut costs.

Dunno about you guys, but the stock brakes are just as good as the Brembos if not better in 60-0 times. 110 ft for sedan, 117 ft for coupe with brembos. Go figure.

It's not Infiniti being cheap. It's infiniti keeping customers happy. The Brembo brakes had alot of issues, and costed a lot just to fix. So they are getting rid of them for a better factory system.

What do you mean they had lots of problems with Brembos? last time I checked, the stock brakes are warranted every 10K for free replacement on worn parts. I don't see any TSB's, recalls, or extended free warranties on the Brembos....

at least some of difference in stopping distances between the two can be attributed to the extra weight the coupe has to stop. Also, without testing the sedan and coupe same day and conditions, you can't compare the rag numbers. They're only good for estimates.
Besides, the real benefit (besides the head turning bling) is the additional heat capacity you'll get with the brembos for repeated stops. The stock brakes will fade much faster than the brembos.

Sorry, but I have to disagree with you for once. The BREMBO's have been trouble free for almost everyone. Bedding brakes is paramount for anyone with performance brakes (even the stock brakes should be bedded properly). Dusting is a non-issue. What do you want to give first, the pad or the rotor? I might even argue that in the long run, the BREMBO's would cost Infiniti less money because they are giving EVERY 5AT owner 2 or 3 sets of pads and rotors for FREE within the 36,000 mile extended warranty.
Also, I've seen articles in various magazines that have quoted the 6MT having better braking distances for the coupe. Check out this website and compare the results of the different magazines/tests.

There are alot of complaints on the Brembos. From a good source on Freshalloy.com that is why Nissan ditched the Brembos.

50-75lb is not much to change. But the Sedan has smaller tires, so that is against it. The wider the tire the more grip should help you even stop faster, but on the Coupe it doesn't. The only reason the stock brakes fade is because of what the compound the pad is made out of. If you get some good lines, fluid, and pads, the car will out brake alot of cars with aftermarket systems guranteed. Even the fade will be gone.

Found out last night that Brembos are definately being dropped in 2005. Before you go off the deep end there was and is a reason.
Continuing complaints (they do listen) regarding the pads and calipers was simply unacceptable. The problem was that Brembo seemed unconcerned and were not moving fast enough to solve the problem.
The answer to the was was that Infiniti has developed a new caliper and braking system that should exceed the Brembo system. At least they won't be dealing with a third party system.

I mean how many people have tracked their G's? I have, and the Brembos were great. But I would guess less than 1% of all G's ever see track time. Outside of the track, the Brembos really only supply a *bling bling* factor. Which is nice though too [img]/w3timages/icons/smile.gif[/img] I've had many compliments on the look of the Brembos, and lots of people were surprised the car came from the factory with them.

Go to a gym and grab a 45 and a 25 lb. weight and put them on your passenger seat. Tell me that there is no effect.
Also, the width of a tire may actually work against stopping performance. If a tire is too wide, the contact patch on will be shallower and wider whereas the skinnier tire will be longer and skinnier. The former helps in the turns whereas the latter helps in the launching and braking.

Pads, lines and fluid will undoubtedly help with fade. However, with anything besides a beginning to intermediate HPDE, the stock brakes, with those upgrades will not be adequate IMO.
