Mod Identification

First time poster, long time lurker. I finally pulled tracked down a used 05 6MT Coupe. Bought it off a used car lot. I have noticed that the previous owner had already done the Z pipe install, they also replaced the stock filter with a K&N drop in. The exhaust sounds aftermarket as well, but I have yet to crawl under the car and check. My main question is, is there a way to identify if a plenum spacer was already installed other then actually going through the install process to see if one has?

Thanks in advance

take off the engine cover and if you see 2 seams instead of one between the upper and lower plenum then you have a spacer

Welcome to Driver Angelo! So you already have the Z-Tube and K&N drop in filter, that's good. Spacer can be found like the Staff member mentioned above, it's pretty obvious if you know what to look for. The spacer is a great mod, it fixes a Nissan design flaw where the two front ports of the plenum are too narrow to allow equeal air flow....thus the spacer. Enjoy your new ride and Good Luck....

Thanks for the info. I will do that and check and see if it has already been installed. Would be pretty great if someone else had already done it. If not I will be ordering a spacer next week as well as looking into getting either a CAI or a cone style filter and heat shield to replace the stock air box.

Most aftermarket intakes wont do much as far as gains except change the sound of the air flow...I have an Injen CAI and I feel there is a lack of air flow with the aftermarket airflow. Does anyone feel like the front of the car is choked for air sometimes? Seems to me like the design of the engine bay doesnt do much justine to dissipate the heat within such a small area.

Anyways get your mod on!! I will try to take a pic for you with a plenum..

Decided to sea foam the car today and I took a look for the spacer while i was doing it. I do in fact have one installed. So that makes a Z tube with a KN drop in, plus the spacer. Now I just need to get under the car and check out the exhaust and cats.
