Ticket for going 80 on the 10fwy in CA

Anyone has an idea of how much this is going to cost me? Limit for the area is 65. Hopefully, it's under $200.

Thanks
Edited by ac3ac3 on 09/11/04 03:47 AM.

In Ca! I hate to say it but you will most likely be paying over $200. The stupid thing is everyone in So Ca drives 80, unless you are driving in rush hour!

Yeah, that sucks. If you don't go at least 80 in the fast lane, you'll likely get shot. Can you do traffic school?

Assuming its all thats on your record, around $150 give or take 10 bucks. If you have nothing else on your record, pay the $52 and go to traffic school. Trust me I've gotten MANY tickets on the freeway for 80 (since thats pretty much the slowest I drive)

This was at 3am this morning. Nothing on my record for the last 6 years that I can remember anyways except for the tint earlier this year. Well, at least you can do traffic school over the web. Guess when you speed, you're going to get caught sooner or later.

You're lucky (if you're in LA). We cant do online traffic school in OC. I've sat through that [censored] *3* times. I'd rather pay twice as much than have to sit through goddamn traffic school.

But, no points on my record so I cant complain. Although what pisses me off about the last one is that I actually wasnt speeding, the cop lied to the judge, I told the judge the cop was a liar, I PROVED he was a liar, but he still found me guilty.

Re: Ticket for going 80 on the 10fwy in CA

I usually drag it out too using extensions and ticketassassin. But heres the very short story about my last ticket:

Get on freeway during rush hour, instantly lit up. Cops says I'm doing 80 and he paced me for 3/10ths of a mile. I say I couldnt have been since I JUST got on the freeway. He writes me a ticket. I go back and take note of the point where I finally stopped my car on the freeway...it was 1.3 miles from when I got on....hell it wasnt even 1.3 from the point when he turned on his lights but where I entered. I do all the written shiz, cop still shows up in court.

He tells judge "I paced him for a mile". So basically, I entered the freeway doing 40 (fastest I could go since it was a cloverleaf onramp) during RUSH HOUR. So, I enter doing 40, instantaneously am doing 80...paced for a mile...cop turns on his lights, and in the span of 3/10ths of a mile I

1. See the cop
2. Decelerate from 80
3. Move over two lanes (ALL DURING RUSH HOUR)
4. Stop the car

And dont forget, I also instantly went from 40-80 in 0 seconds flat back at the entrance of the freeway.

And the judge still f-ed me. I started to get into it with the judge in the court (hell I didnt care at that point) and he gave me traffic school even though I wasnt eligible yet (prior ticket less than a year ago) since there seemed to be an oddity in our story. But that STILL means I had to pay it AND sit in traffic school for 8 hours.

So, no matter how slick you may be (and no matter how RIGHT you may be), you can easily get screwed.

Re: Ticket for going 80 on the 10fwy in CA

Thanks guys. I would fight it if I wasn't speeding, but I knew I was speeding. Kinda hard not to speed in a G when the fwy is wide open. Just was in one of those moods. Anyways, just want to know what the damage will be. Probably will just take the traffic school online if they let me.

Yeah, just wrong place at the wrong time. I have driven this route every Fri or Sat for God knows how long at that speed and have never been caught. I guess it was just my time. Funny thing was, me and my friends were just talking about him getting a ticket on his way to the Grand Canyons last weekend. Must have jinxed me.
Edited by ac3ac3 on 09/13/04 12:34 AM.
