Resale value on a turbo or SC G35c? Most potential buyers would stay away, simply because they don't wanna take the risk. Removing the turbo or SC is time consuming & expensive, & if you sell it separately you'll hardly get back anywhere near what you paid.

Let's assume stock M3 & G35c retain 50% of their value over 5 yrs. Buy a turbo or SC, use it for 5 yrs, you probably won't get more than 20% of the original value of the turbo/SC.

For the people who say the M3 doesn't handle well, I say the G35c doesn't handle as well as everyone here thinks. Even on non-BMW forums (ie 350Z), people give the M3 credit.

The G35c, in routine situations feels heavy. It doesn't give me the same sense of athleticism or agility that the 350Z did. It's not nimble or tossable. Handling is excellent at the limits (still not as good as the M3 though), but that's less than 10% of the time for anyone who works full-time.

Other cars I've driven include the Z4 3.0i w/ std 17" rubber, IS300 w/ opt 17" rubber, E46 323i w/ std rubber, & RSX. All but the RSX handled better than the G35c in 95% of my driving. The 5% of the time when I found twisties that were really challenging, the G35c handled better than those cars except the Z4.

In defense of the G35c, I will say it's close to perfect for my wants. Luxury, styling, reliability, safety, power, braking, & comfort. Even the interior, generally maligned by even people here, I think is unfairly criticized. The more I see it the more I like the G35c's interior. I just wished it had the 350Z's handling in routine situations (though I realize it'd also mean less comfort).

 

wow this thread went pretty off topic. as to the chip gains on an m3/330ci, yeah seems like most agree that a chip donest really gain too much power on n/a cars. my car is twin turbo and a 1.0 bar chip boosted it about 60 hps and 110 torque. m3 chip prolly like 10 hps if that.
