Outsanding! Next time you change your oil, check out how it looks just like mud. It's sucking the life away out of your engine. Not much lubrication left there. After extensive research on here and other sites, I decided to go with Castrol Syntec 0W-30, German stock. I then asked my mechanic how long could I go between oil changes, since I'm spending more for expensive synthetic and guys on this sites recommend 5k, 6K, or even longer intervals. He took the time to explain how the engine heat rises in the engine and the longer you leave the oil in the the more it sticks to the engine and the more gunk and residue that says inside there. I asked abiut 3,500 miles and he agreed. It's your car but, my oil changes including and Mobil 1 oil filter run about thirty bucks a piece. I paid over $35k for my car. Don't think I will try to save on oil.

First of all, for every oil except Amsoil, what your mechanic said is correct. But Amsoil is much different than the other synthetics out there...I am a part-time dealer and if you'd like me to go into detail about why this oil is better for your car, just PM me.
Second, my oil looks nothing like mud. It looks no different than your would, or any other car's oil I've changed after 2,500-5,000 miles. I constantly check my car and oil level, but the truth is that the oil I'm using is far superior to the others and it withstands every test you can throw at it. If you truly went through "extensive research" I doubt you would've used Castrol, and you probably also wouldn't flip out at merely hearing a person say they use something different.
I love saving money on oil, and until anyone can present something against specifically using Amsoil at their recommended intervals, you shouldn't say anything. I've personally used Castrol, Mobil1, Royal Purple, and pretty much everything else and they just don't compare.
