Re: Goodbye g35 hello 2005 gto.
yes they are quick cars, but theres nothing that stands out with them. the exterior looks too much like a grand am, although the interior is pretty nice. yea 400 hp is pretty quick but whats the purpous of it? i mean unless u go to the track often theres no real point. the G comes with 280hp and thats perfect for every day driving. the GTO has horrible gas mileage, and its a pontiac. Where i live ive seen maybe 5 total. if there exterior was like no other it would be awesome, but its based on a grand am, witch doesnt make me think anything of it. The GTO Judge is very nice though, ive seen pictures.

Re: Goodbye g35 hello 2005 gto.
FYI: The 04 Cobra is in the same price category and neither the G35C nor the GTO can touch it in performance. The only drawback is the ergonomics. So if you want speed @ $35G....
But I do agree; the GTO has about the nicest interior to EVER wear a Pontiac badge --- BY FAR!!! $.02
2002 Maxima SE (auto)
- Trust Tower Strut Bars
- Falken Ziex ZE-512s (definite mod)
- Cattman Y-pipe
Best time to date: 14.725sec@93.04mph w/60'-2.169
Englishtown - 9/7/02 (Stock setup)

If the G is so slow for you, why did you get it in the first place?
You could do FI to your G, but then you risk ruining your engine.
The Pontiac GTO is pretty hot (for a Pontiac) but the quality isn't impressive....GM is known for using bottom of the line materials for all of their cars and the GTO is no exception. This doesn't phaise me because I think the GTO has a great-looking interior, but it does bother others.

The G35 is more a luxury than a sports car. I know it's a 'luxury sport' but IMO it's a luxury car with power. If you really wanted a sports car why did you get a G35? Knowing that Infinity doesn't make pure race cars. Well good riddens hope you never come back

Here's a good reason not to buy GM...

I believe that all GM vehicles are now being outfitted with these data recorders. Big brother is riding shotgun.

Re: Goodbye g35 hello 2005 gto.
Some of you guys are being I bit harsh...
I guarantee you there are plenty of people who are ditching F-bodies and cobras for the g35. People have different tastes, and are free to change their minds whenever they want.
I happen to like both the GTO and the G35, so i say best of luck to you!
The new GTO is interesting to me, not so much because of what it has to offer right now, but because of the direction it could lead Pontiac and GM towards. The GTO shows that they are getting a clue as to what a real performance 2+2 should drive like. If it had modern styling, it would be on the top of my list. I hope that sales are strong enough to warrant a 2nd generation in a couple years. A car with 400hp, a new look, good handling, solid interior, around 30k price tag, and american made would be a run away success! GM got 5/6 right this time, now take it to the next level!
edit: ok, maybe 4/6 considering it is made down under

Re: Goodbye g35 hello 2005 gto.
The 03 and 04 Cobra's kill the GTO. The 04 GTO has 350hp . Add a smaller pulley to the Cobra and your making over 400whp . The 04 GTO is ugly...no traction . I added a Vortech SC to my G35 and ran a 12.9 @108.6 I am making 350whp on a Mustang dyno...thats 392whp on a Dynojet dyno . If they redesign the GTO and make it look better..it can compete...other wise......it just a ugly wheel spinner...my .02
Couldnt afford it when young...gonna play when Im old

I'd take 400hp NA any day over FI, just not with that body, that interior or a handling package ment to ramp up what isn't the amped up to start with. Just not my beverage of choice, but I'll drink to someone having the right to a totally different opinion. Cheers, enjoy your new GTO, hope it's all you want it to be and more.

Re: Goodbye g35 hello 2005 gto.
Good luck with the GTO.... I just don't really understand why you bnought a G35 if you just wanted power and speed. The G35 is for people who like a combination of luxury and speed. Most folks that buy G35's or non-domestic cars in general would puke on a Pontiac. Anyhow, I respect your decision, but if i were you I would check out the 05 Mustang GT. It looks better and I heard it is pretty powerfull or I would save some extra cash and get a neew Vette.
Peace
