Re: Goodbye g35 hello 2005 gto.

Man let me tell you though, i just saw a BRAND NEW Evo MR or 05, i know it was because of the new tailight's, CF top of the spoiler and the pearl white i dont think it ever came in, it was oneof the nicest looking cars when i saw it. The pearl white, new rims and HID's that are much nicer then BMW's or Audi's made the car look like a $50k+ car, and yes i know class but besides the wing, it was a SICK lookign car. I thinkt he white had alot to do with it,, and the HID's were OMGGG!!!!
Sounded sick and didnt look an ounce ricey at all!

I don't want to get booted for saying this but....

...anything Pontiac, especially sports cars remind me of missing teeth, trailor trash white guys and mollets. West Virgina is a good Pontiac state!

Ford Mustangs have more class.

That being said, I want to say that I am not calling anyone here in the g35driver forum or anyone from WV a "missing teeth, trailor trash white guys and mollets"

Re: Goodbye g35 hello 2005 gto.

Eh, let's start off by clearing a few misconceptions...

First off, it's not just another pontiac. It's actually a Holden. And it was car of the year in Australia...

Yes an STI may own it to 60. May not own a 05' GTO... But an STI will NOT own a GTO at highway speed. I've heard stories of stock G35's beating an STI at 110+ mph speeds. The GTO has a vette engine under the hood. It isn't going to get owned by an STI at highway speeds, the gearing of the STI is wrong for hi-speed highway cruising.

The GTO does not get "horrible" fuel economy. It actually gets better fuel economy then the G35. Heck, my Pontiac GTP gets better fuel economy than my G35, and my pontiac has a blower on the engine.

And the GTO can do more than "go in a straight line"... It has 55/45 weight distribution, and it got something like a 0.90g on the skidpad with all season tires. Which is exactly what the G35 Sedan did.

Whatever you decide to do, more power to you, and best of luck.If you want to ditch the G35 and buy a GTO, don't listen to the naysayers, they aren't paying your monthly payments.

Me, I'm happy with my G35 Coupe. If I wanted to break into the 12s, I'd just mod my GTP. Factory blowers can be fun.

Re: Goodbye g35 hello 2005 gto.

I can see your dilema but you probably shouldn't have a bought a G in the first place. They are fast but of course they won't feel anything like the new GTO. It's a different kind of car. I personally think the GTO is very ugly for a 30K+ car but the interior, performance and quality is definitely there. Now if it actually looked like that picture of the Judge floating around and it had the rumored 400hp coming in the '05's then yes, I would be driving a GTO baby!! But it won't so neither will I. I'm perfectly happy with my G. She's still pretty damn fast and I'm sorry but only a handful of cars look sexier on the road than a G35!! Anyway, goodluck with your new GTO. I think you'll love it.

btw...for those of you bashing Pontiac's please be more open minded. My old car was a '97 Trans Am and it was soooooooo much fun to drive. As I said once before awhile back. The G is my supermodel, the Trans Am was my pornstar!

I don't like the interiors on the Evo's. You get nothing but speed for your money and it's still not a great ammount.

WRAH - you hit the nail right on the head, I've been biting my lip ever since this was posted. I second everything you said.

I drove from my house in Connecticut to Nashville, TN and saw a grand total of ONE G35 over the entire 1,000 mile trip (PA, VA, WV, MD, and TN) and it was a base model sedan. The car you drive is an expression of you as a person. Try picking up a girl in a Pontiac...

A GTO can definitely smoke me, but dude, it's a Pontiac... PEACE

re: gto for a g35c

Omfg, a gto over a g35c, this is f*ckin funny. Talk about comparing apples to really overpriced, low-quality oranges.

Re: Goodbye g35 hello 2005 gto.

If speed and acceleration are the only consideration, you might as well buy a civic and seriously mod it, it still looks much better than the GTO. I will never buy a GM car for over 30000, simply becuz with the money you can get something better. (better built quality, interior, styling, reliability, and even performance)

And i don't think EVO MR is a good looking car, it basically look like lancer to me with mods and bigger engine. It may be a fast car but doesn't show any class at all! Not to mention it looks almost the same as the 15-20k lancer.

Re: re: gto for a g35c

The GTO may be ugly, but it's got a better engine, a better 6MT gearbox, and an interior of similar build quality. The car certainly doesn't handle as well as the G35, but it won't struggle to get into the 13's, either. I personally would not buy a GTO over a G35, but this guy did. Judging from the tone of some of the posts in here, some people believe that the G35 is the end-all-be-all of ~$35K cars. Can we be a bit more reasonable here?

Have fun with your GTO..we'll have fun with our G35s.

Re: re: gto for a g35c

Is the '05 GTO the same price as '04's? If so, it's a heck of a deal for a 400 HP, good handling car. Of course, I would never trade my G for one (G is plenty fast for me), but I can see how some would. If the 400 HP engines comes with a price hike, then I'd say get a Corvette instead. Or better yet, get an STi or Evo.

Re: Goodbye g35 hello 2005 gto.

Uhm no what are you smoking. Get a new C6 Vette.
Stock 0-60 in 4.2s is unbelievable for mid 40k car.

I was going to go the FI g35c route but with the recently engine blows surfacing I don't think that's such a good idea. FIG35c = tt kit + a engine rebuild = $$$$$$$$ There are cheaper power for the buck.

The bottom line is doesn't matter how good your car is. When it comes to a merging line and some *** with more hp won't let you in or [censored] with you you will wish you have more hp :-P Don't even try say you won't care that's a flat out lie. :-)
