re: NAVIGATION UPDATE DVD
re: NAVIGATION UPDATE DVD
My girlfriend's 06 G35 sedan with nav has never been updated. I just purchased the 7.5 version dvd which is on sale till June 30th for $99. Is there anything to updating it other than removing the old disc and inserting the latest dvd? The service manager said he would take care of it for me.
Thanks for the info. I've been reading about Infiniti dealers charging $125+ on top of the cost of the disc! That's crazy. I'm glad it is an easy install.
shiiit send me that file in a rar. i wouldnt mind haha. i have a couple streets by my house that werent around in 06
lol they charge an hour of work for 10min worth, stealer ships meh. Yea all you do is follow he directions that come with the Firmware disc, if not its in the FSM. For the 05 Nav you just popped in the Firmware disc it asked if you if you want to update you just clicked update and then a loading bar will show up and then it finishes and you put in the Nav disc. I assume its the same for an 06 unless its the hard drive base nav.

If the car is a 2006 and never had any update, shouldn't there be any firmware update in addition to the 7.5 disc?
2006 is when the overall navi system was upgraded with minor tweaks so you could think of that as your firmware update. Infiniti has not released any other system tweaks 06/07. The only thing you're purchasing is updated map data, points of interest, etc. Your DVD drive doesn't care what version disc you put in it, so there really is no "upgrade process". Just put in whatever version you have and it reads the data and goes. I've done it twice now.
To the person that commented on "the rule to sale a copy of the disc", you have bad grammar
You may also want to think about the fact that the piracy cases in court typically aren't against people that just downloaded illegal stuff, they're against the people that were selling or sharing it. If someone wants to pirate the latest nav DVD, with a little bit of knowledge, they can just download the torrent and do it themselves. Say what you will about that - everyone has their opinions, but trying to sell pirated stuff? My opinion is that's taking it way too far.
