i have the same noise, i don't think its detrimental to the tranny, but it is a noise that i have never heard out of any other car which is very annoying and sounds very "cheap". the head tech at infiniti told me "its normal, we replaced the tranny in another car because of this, and the noise is still there. it warranteed anyway, if it goes, we'll give u another one for free." if it bothers enough of us, we should organize and write letters to I of A so they can fix the noise.
