Bad Sychros

Hey I have a 03 6mt and I'm pretty convinced either these cars in the early years are ****ty cars or I just have bad luck. Anyway I just had my engine swapped due to oil consumption and now 2nd and 3rd are grinding so tranny has to get rebuilt.

Should I go the rebuilt route or just buy a new transmission. I really don't have any faith in this car to last at this point. What's anyone experience with a rebuilt tranny.

this might sound funny but when i first got the car i thought i had bad syncros too cus everytime i shift to second it had a hard time but then i learned that the shifter doesnt like to be man handled and u jus gotta guide it to where u want it to go and let it go on its own and nugde it with ur fingers instead of pushing with ur hand like ur racing. try it see if that helps lol. solved my issue now it shifts smooth

^LOL, OP you might be better off trying to find a used tranny that's in good condition. how much did you get quoted on the rebuild? And who would you be having do the rebuild? Feel free to PM me if I don't get back to you right away.

I agree with parhamm get a low mileage used one rather than rebuilding it would probably be right around the same cost. Also I remember reading on my350z the 05-06 tranny was better than the 03-04 I'll see if I can find the link for you, here's a link that should help you out if you decide to go this route.

If you choose the right person to rebuild your trans they could do so with upgraded internals. Buying a used trans isn't wise, you never really know what you're getting or how it's been treated/abused....
