NEED HELP!! Dillemma between 05 and 06 coupe manual
#31
06 was probably beat on, with that many mods...
Go with the 05, and take pride in the fact that you have a "unique" G35: 06 and over interior and engine, 04 and under exterior.
EDIT: The clutch changing of the 05 is really odd... My car has 68k miles and the clutch is still working without flaw.
Did the dealership it is currently at change the clutch? Or did the last owner have to change it?
Sometimes dealerships change out the clutch if it seems like it needs it in the slightest bit, after their multi-point inspection. They also usually change the tires.

Dealership did it, I asked him how come a car with 30K mile needed a clutch change and he said there was a little tear so he switched.
I am going to get it inspected by infini before I buy the car
eventhough it is sold by a dealership.
He seems like he is despearte to sell me the car by today

I'd be a little concerned that the '05 needed a new clutch at 30K miles. Sounds like the previous owner probably beat the **** out of it or was a real crappy manual tranny driver.
A clutch typically lasts a lot longer than 30K miles unless it's driven in stop-and-go traffic constantly or is raced regularly.
30K miles is really low for an '05... so the previous owner probably didn't use it as their only means of transportation or a pure daily driver... most likely it was just a toy for him/her or a second car to flash around in and drive hard or beat on when the weather is nice or for weekend driving and racing.
Just to give you an idea of how low that millage is for an '05.... my 2004 G35 Coupe is one of 2 cars that I own and split time in, and I also have 2 motorcycles that I usually drive one of whenever it's nice out. My commute to work is only about 6 miles each way, and I've still managed to put 40K miles on my car since new despite splitting time with all those other vehicles, only driving the G35 between April and November(I store it for the winter months), and only driving it on the nice weather days that I decide to not take one of the motorcycles out instead.

I know! it is very weird for that low mileage car to switch a clutch.
so what should i do? should i abandon this car
i really like the car, and i want to get it

Both cars are under warranty, so OC issues would be covered. If there are any issues at all.

G35's are a dime-a-dozen nowadays, so don't force yourself into buying something that you're not completely comfortable with. Even if you miss out on a perspective good deal one day, you'll find another one real soon if you keep looking hard. If you're picky, know exactly what you want, and will only settle for a good price, you should expect to spend at least a month or more looking around for the perfect car. I usually spend like 3 or 4 months looking for the perfect used car when I get something... but I'm probably 4x pickier than the average person in that regard.

It took me almost 9 months to find the one I wanted, I wouldn't settle I knew what options I wanted, with the amount of miles, and the right price. Although I had to fly to get it, I didn't settle, and neither should you. My opinion, I would never buy a used car that had any mods, and I'm talking not even window tint. So I say if it's down to these 2 go with the 05.

you never force the clutch to catch up with the drivetrain... you will fry the **** out of it.... here's a great post for all the new kids to mt
https://g35driver.com/forums/g-spot/...-drive-mt.html
learn how to drive your mt's kids, my dad has run 130000 miles on one clutch and its still in better condition than most ppl 30-40k clutches...
btw rev matching means you tap the gas to match rpms in lower gear...

Go with the 05, projectors are the only upgrade with the 06.. and front bumper but that 06 has a body kit on it already so thats pointless. both aare rev up engines, go with the lower miles. The 05 is somewhat stock so you can make it your own and keep the stock parts if you ever want to pu tthem back on. Get the 05 checked out at the dealer !
