bad night.

well last night my buddy rolls over with his old set of 350z h-techs. we were in the process or compressing the spring around the strut on the front left strut, and i noticed that the top of the strut where you have to back the nut over while holding the strut is pretty rusted, for some unapparent reason. the next thing out of my tool box was the good old pb blaster in holpes that when we run out of room to hold the strut shaft still and turn the nut, that the nut will be free spinning by then…. well nothing worked at all. everything that could have gone wrong went wrong in this case. long story short i need new front struts so i can get my new stance. fml

Have someone remove that bolt with an "Impact Gun!" Quite often that's the only way to remove those nuts....don't forget the WD40 prior.

i hit it with pb blaster and wd40, and i have not tried an impact gun, but it is the nut that free spins with the inner shaft on the strut. so if there is nothing to hold the top of the pin it will not come off all of the way. i was furious. i will definitely get my buddies impact gun on it before i run out and grab a new strut

that would be the one, but this pid does not do it justice. mine was rusted all over the threads, nut and the top of the post. so when i finally got the nut off to the point where i could not grip the top of the post with my adjustible wrench/pliers, the nut was not loose enough to free spin without turning the shaft.

Ah, I see. Yeah an impact wrench will probably do the job.

if the nut is completely stuck, take it to a muffler shop, have them weld another nut on top of it (BUT DONT WELD THE COIL) then use an impact gun to shoot it off.
