I have a friend that I drift with that is a suspension tech for Toyota. Not a dealership, directly for Toyota. He said he can teach someone how to do one pretty easily. It's learning how the setup will affect the drive that is the hard part and requires experience. Those are pretty expensive. You can get fishing line and some jack stands, some heavy bolts and a harbor freight caliper.. oh and a jack of course.

I was actually looking at a similar one made by ART but that sucka is already $500 and it's only good for toe readings. Not to mention that's only half of the job....you'll need something to level the car, alignment plates to make adjustments, otherwise, there's too much friction from the pavement to the tire. Then you'll need to get tools to get camber and caster readings. You'll end up spending as much as a real digital/computerized wheel alignment machine minus the car lift.

or you can build your own, kinda annoying and tedious setting this thing up though...

I made an alignment jig today with 2 lengths of 1" square tubing and a magnetic level with a digital angld gauge. I can get the camber in a few seconds but i havent tried the toe yet.

Anybody know the formula to find the degree of toe based on the front and rear measurments? Or what the diffence of the measurements should be on a car with proper toe?

idk, for 80 bucks for a good alignment every 6 months I don't see a reason to spend money on this.

True but for the price of one alignment u can get the materials needed to gdt your own measurements. And if u have ever done your own suspension work then u know how simple it is to make the adjustments if u had the proper specs.

The stupid mechanics could **** up your car so it's better to do it yourself. I had some moron doing it and he scratched the the center of my steering wheel (where the Mt Fuji logo is). I should've asked them to replace it but instead I asked for a refund. Stupid me.

The place I go to, is extremely good. All the car enthusiasts from my area and nearby areas go to this shop. Good Quality work.

Though if you cant find a shop like that I agree.

Watch the DIY video on getting the measurements for toe with a tape measure. Its very easy. Next u take those measurements and convert them to degrees and adjust from there.

I just pay the 150 bucks for the lifetime alignments at firestone. My time is worth more than this.

Some people say the same about oil changes but to each his own. Its a bit more complicated than an oil change but knowing how to properly to this would be awesome.
