V3 Vortech SC kit

V3 Vortech SC kit
Car: 2003 G35 6mt coupe 70k miles
I have purchased a Vortech V3 SC kit with FMU and Fuel pump.
I am fairly mechanically inclined and I am doing the install myself. I have read the install manual several times and feel comfortably with the install. Here are some of my questions:
1. Vortech claims the car will run fine with the SC in stock form, is this correct?
If not what do i need to upgrade not to gain more power but to run safely.
This is a daily driver I just want some more pop! No track runs here.
2. After the install do i need to take it to a dyno to have it tuned by a pro?
I am on a budget and the local guys wants $1200 to tune it.
3. I have read to run a colder plug close the gap a little etc what
other small tips should i be aware of?
Thanks for the input guys/gals I have read some posts here about 3 hours worth and there is a lot of help here thanks.

TUNE!!! You need to do that especially if it's your daily... otherwise you may be setting yourself up for some issues..
I recommend atleast the 3.12 pulley.
What EMS are you using? - sorry i just saw you posted that you bought the full kit...

i am not sure about the stock one - i think with the kit straight from the box you will be disappointed... I think the Tuner kit is the way to go, but that is my personal opinion, maybe you will be satisfied with the full kit, just read where people felt it was really lacking in power vs. what they were expecting...
**** for 400 you just get a license, you can get the full cable for yourself for about 650-700... i would pay 800 with the Osiris license, but not $800 just to tune...
I believe the full kit uses the biggest pulley too (3.27 possibly... i am using 3.11, and contemplating an upgrade to 2.87 in a year or so)
