i disagree with that.

considering i am running a rev up with supporting mods and am just north of that number

OP - if 350 is your goal i would think that you might be close to that with the full kit and some supporting mods - what else do you have done to your car performance wise?

get a compression test done, if your numbers are within range then you'll go zoom for a good while lol. if not, it'll be zooooooBoom. if you dont tune after the install, then boom. haha

I have purchased a Vortech V3 SC kit with FMU and Fuel pump.

I am fairly mechanically inclined and I am doing the install myself. I have read the install manual several times and feel comfortably with the install. Here are some of my questions:

1. Vortech claims the car will run fine with the SC in stock form, is this correct?
If not what do i need to upgrade not to gain more power but to run safely.
This is a daily driver I just want some more pop! No track runs here.

2. After the install do i need to take it to a dyno to have it tuned by a pro?
I am on a budget and the local guys wants $1200 to tune it.

3. I have read to run a colder plug close the gap a little etc what
other small tips should i be aware of?

Thanks for the input guys/gals I have read some posts here about 3 hours worth and there is a lot of help here thanks.

when installing the tolerances are VERY tight, especially with the intercooler/intake piping - it will take some time to get it to sit right... bring alot of patience with you while installing, don't rush!

just relaying what i was told by dude at CIN when he installed and tuned a stock nonrev with that setup. he said like 390 and 370. maybe its just how well the tune is done

yeah franklucas, it also wouldnt hurt to get an oil pan spacer to give you that extra oil capacity but not necessary since you're running a v3.

and if i were you id put an exhaust and spacer on there to get full potential of your tune. the stock cats are a huge restriction, an aftermarket exhaust/headers are plenty better than stock, and a 5/16 or 1/2 md plenum spacer is almost a mandatory mod these days

It could be and how hard they are pushing it -

Although i still doubt that claim of 390 on a non revup motor with just the stock pulley on a stock engine. Be curious to see a dyno of that.

The tuner kit, 3.11 pulley, 600cc injectors, plugs, walbro 255 fuel pump and a tuning software - UTEC or Osiris would do you wonders, i think you will be alot more satisfied with that set-up than the stock full kit.

I also recommend the HFC's, exhaust and a plenum spacer - you'll be in the intake manifold putting in the injectors, be a simple add on to put on the spacer at that time. Headers are a giant pain on our cars, but that would complete the exhaust side and give you nice gains and sound!

The oil pan spacer isn't necessary since your going V3 - self contained oil... might look to dremel some of the support area for the bumper near the headlight/fender so you can pull the dipstick to check/add oil to the supercharger a bit easier, it's a pain otherwise...

^+1 on that thread. I've read it twice already and it sounds like you need to read it before you go off buying and installing parts.

Just get a good dyno tune from a tuner with a good reputation. The tune will make or break your build.
