The G35 is gone....

Today the G35 was traded in for another car. I had this car for a few months and was generally pleased with the experience. Overall I give the car a B-. In reality I am a father of two and owning a coupe was not suitable for my needs. I think a bug hit me to own a sports car and the G35 was it. It was cool and satisfied my desires of owning someting neat but what haunted me the most to this decision was the oil consumption issue. The car only had 73,000 miles and guess what.... I found out too late about the Infiniti OC TSB. My car drank a quart and a half for every thousand miles. What gets me more is that if this car was under warranty why didn't the last owner jump on the motor replacement? In my honest opinion I am positive he just didn't know and just assumed sports cars suck oil. Plus that so-called industry standard may have put it in most peoples heads that burning a quart per 1,000 miles is OK. Well it wasn't OK with me.

What I liked about the car:

1) performance between 40mph and 80mph. I felt it was strong...
2) the stance of the car
3) the HID lighting was awesome and clean
4) the exotic sound
5) steering felt sporty

What I didn't like about the car:

1) felt sluggish from a dead stop
2) interior seemed flimsy
3) wipers didn't turn on automatically when triggering the washer fluid
4) the gas gauge issue that I had to fix
5) the clunky manual trans, gears1-3 made the car feel like a tractor
6) The rattle of the windows when closing the door with the windows rolled down. Sounded terrible.
7) THE OIL CONSUMPTION!!!!!

After shopping around and pulling a few prices I did not see the value in putting 10 grand into a motor with that many miles. If I was truly in love with the car I would have but in reality I wasn't. If I would have been fortunate enough to qualify for a new motor under warranty I am sure I would have stuck with the car. But it didn't work out that way so I cut my losses and moved out.

I truly respect and love the knowledge on this site, the sponsors support and the cool rides that have been represented on this forum. I would take those cars in a minute. But 10 grand into a motor alone without even touching the expense for the other upgrades which include audio, wheels, body kit, exhaust, intake mods, plenums, FI, clutch upgrades, BBK's, aye aye aye. It just isn't for me. God bless the ones that went through the journey....

I thought I could live with topping off the oil every so often but could'n't. It just ate me up. No biggy. Live and learn.

Thanks for the help and it was cool to get to know some of you. Today, Jiggy divorced a VQ and married a Hemi WITH AN EXTENDED WARRANTY.

What did you get? Lots of vehicles have Hemi's. Our truck has a Hemi lol.

I kind of understand all your complaints instead of the window wash one. My wipers turn on automatically for 4-5 cycles every time I have it spray the fluid.
