Messed up, taking out starter - Car on jack stands need help!
Well my wifes car was having a problem with the starter, so i got the service manual, followed it.
But noticed when i was taking out the bottom bolt, it was taking a lot of muscle to get out.
Turns out the threads were messed up on the bolt, so chances are the threads are ruined in the block.
I talked to the people at autozone(picking up new starter), and they didn't have a helix thread kit for the bolt, not the right size (should of asked him what the size was). But said i should try to get a new bolt at home depot, which i guess i'll be doing tomorrow morning and crossing my fingers that somehow the threads still work.
But i'm trying to find a parts lookup database that will give me the thread information for this bolt, but i can't find any real OEM parts searches, can someone point me in the right direction? The bolt is a 14mm head.
2004.5 G35 AWD. It is the bolt that goes into the block. again all the parts searches i find, when i search for starter, only show me internal starter parts, can't find one with the bolts that would hookup the starter.

Try here

You should be able to put in your info and get the correct part.

Thanks for the site, i checked, and it dosn't list starter bolts for 2004 g35. But it does list other types which might be harder to find outside of the dealer, so its a handy site to book mark.
I got a little further in my problem, the top and bottom bolts were the same, so instead of waiting to get a new bolt, i put the non messed up bolt back in with the new starter in the bottom which is what i was worried was stripped, it seemed to go in fine.
So now i just need to find a bolt tomorrow to replace the top one, that isn't stripped, so hopefullly i avoided disaster. I'll find out tomorrow. Hopefully either infiniti has the bolt in stock, or homedepot will have something comparable.

had a fun weekend.
Got a starter from auto zone, installed it, used home depot bolt in the top, it held fine.
Starter worked for like 6 starts, then stranded my wife at a car wash.
Wasn't cause the starter got wet, just a peice of **** from auto zone, the starter got stuck and hit a dead spot.
Took out starter, and brought back to auto zone got money back.
Ordered correct bolts and starter from dealer, hopefully picking up today, and installing tonight.

Well the new starter is installed now.
And it turns over the car, but now it appears the idle is messed up.
It starts then rpms go up, then just drops down and dies. It is also idling really low, lower then it ever did before.
If i give it gas it starts fine, but goes up really high on startup and dosn't die and idles fine.
Did a few searchs, i had the battery off charging while waiting for the parts,
So possibly the ecu needs to relearn the air intake or something? But people say you have to take it into the dealer for this??
I guess i'll drive it around for a few days and see if it goes away, really don't want to pay the dealer 105 bucks, to run a program... they charge that much to look at it, so it may even cost more to get it to fixed.
