Anyone done "hard to fill fuel tank" repair?
Anyone else doing upside down method or am I missing a joke? I considered it last time I was at the pump but it didn't look like the curved nozzle was going to fit upside down so I gave up before anyone could see me looking silly.
I typically just set the clicker one notch down from full fill rate so that it doesn't fill very fast. Seems to work, but obviously slow.

I discovered that it's not always our G35s when it comes to the hard to fill issue. The Chevron near me has one or two pumps that I simply can't fill the gas without it shutting off. No use saying anything to the towel heads that work there they don't know squat or care. No issues at the Shell station, fills up without any problems and I get to listen to their commericals....

try this is upside down does not work, or shell does not work.
do at your own risk, I completed this task myself, and it solved my fill up problems 100%
now the guage reads past full and I can fill up all the way.

Carefully lift the unit up. There is a long metal arm holding the float unit. Where the arm connects to the main body is a little board that you can use a q-tip to clean. Mine didn't look dirty until I wiped it with the q-tip, but hopefully that is where the problem is, because there is not a whole lot else going on on this thing.

The passenger side unit includes the fuel pump, so its a little harder. You have to squeeze the tabs at the end of the fuel line, then push it off. Keep the rag handy as fuel WILL come out if there is any residual pressure.

Then pull the unit out carefully, as its a pretty tight fit. The metal arm and cleaning spot are the same as the other side, though this piece is a bit more unweildy.

Be careful not to lose the o-ring in the tank! Replace and good luck. If this works, its a pretty easy fix <fingers crossed>. Only took about 20-30 minutes.
