Question regarding compression rod bushings

Hello - I recently moved to California and my new Infiniti dealership screwed me over. Nevermind the screw over, but after leaving I noticed on the paperwork some recommendations. I can get these done at another mechanic but I wanted to know just how dire or important these were.

1. Compression Rod Bushings (torn) - I have done some research and it seems like this just causes some clicking noise? Is this a critical part to my car that needs to be fixed to drive safely and not cause more damage to the car?

2. Rack and Pinion Steering (leaking) - Apparently it is leaking a little bit of power fluid. This sounds more like an issue that I will get checked out. Should I check the power steering in the meantime?

The main issue I am worried about is the compression rod bushings since they wanted $1500 to do it.

Thank you very much.

I started a thread on this very subject in July of 2007. If you have the patience to read close to 400 posts you may gain some info on this very subject. The name of the thread to do your search on this forum is "G35 Compression Rods are Total Crap". The thread is still alive and well with recent posts. I would think your power steering leak to be of more concern. Good luck.

$1500 for the compression rod bushing? Damn!

You can buy the bushings for about $50 / pair. Just buy the bushings yourself and take it to a local garage.

Lol. Compression rods do not cost that much for parts and labor. For me it was around 400 and bushings under 100

Or u can get the SPL compression rod bushings and never ever ever have to change them out again. OEM bushings are fine at $50 a set but they will go out again sooner or later.
