03 g35 with 5k..just bought , whats the best kinda oil to use ?!?!?
Amsoil works best for me. I don't mind the cost knowing how well it's protecting the engine. I bought it with Mobil 1 in it, it was burning that off pretty quick, German Castrol was alright but again burned when I pushed the car. 2000 miles later on Amsoil and it's barely below the H, car feels great. Worth it to me.
I guess this is redundant now and reliving an old thread, but for what its worth, +1 to amsoil and and a quality filter. We run it in all of our cars, snowmobiles, etc. Engine oil is one of those things you should never "cheap out" on. Plus if you shop around and check with your local vendors, you can usually find if for a slightly less wallet busting price. I wouldnt trade it for anything though.
Well since this thread has been revived I'm about to switch to full synthetic which do most of y'all prefer Mobil 1 or royal purple? I'm leaning toward royal purple just because I've heard some bad things about Mobil 1
Royal purple isnt bad. But i've heard from a few people (strictly hear-say) that royal purple doesnt really resist thermal break-down as well as other comparably priced synth oils. If you are going to spend the money on royal purple, just buy Amsoil instead. far better oil for about the same price. but your oil is only as good as the filter you install with it. keep that in mind.
Sorry for another revival, but i read that Amsoil is really good, and on this site that i found it states that Amsoil recommends replacing the oil and filter every 25,000 miles or 12-months.. Would this be good for our engines?

The thing is Amsoil and others of it's calibre can LAST that long, but oil's primary function is to remove contaminants from your engine, filter them, and go get more. Whether this is minute shavings from metal rubbing, crap from gasolines (do you really think all those detergents in gasoiline plus the gunk they clean are flowing smoothly out of the exhaust?), etc.
You change oil when it's dirty (meaning it's saturated with particles that are no longer being filtered) or it's max life.
For 99% of synthetics, it's dirty long before it's compromised.
