Stp oil filter

Is this a decent oil filter for the g35 coupe? Also, when I get my oil changed at a shop, do they put a new crush washer in or do they use the same one? Thanks

Haven't seen any threads on why it's junk. What makes it junk through your experience? If they don't replace the crush washer, could I e xperience serious problems?

crush washer should be good for a few oil changes....i change my crush washer every 3 or four oil changes, the dealer says it should be changes every change but if never had a problem. the washer is only cost a few cents at the dealer, so buy some and have the shop replace it.

Ok thanks guys. The last oil change was at the dealer so I should be fine. I'm still going to ask the shop to replace it today. I guess I'll just use this filter for 3,000 miles then go with something better for my next change that can last about 5,000 miles. I'm using mobile 1 5w 30. Thanks again

MadtotheA, the crush washer only needs to be replaced if there's a leak so don't panic....I've never replaced mine!

Woosah! I actually went back to autozone and bought the mobile 1 filter then stopped by the Nissan dealership and got a crush washer for free. Guess I'm good to go now! Thanks guys!

I just went to Advanced Auto Parts, they had a special on castrol oils... with 5qt purchase you receive a free k & n oil filter for $27.99

...If you get lucky like i did, they had the sign in front of the Castrol EDGE platinum oil where it did not belong, thus i got that oil and the k & n filter for 27.99, not a bad deal on my end

That's a dam good deal. I got my mobil 1 oil at walmart for $24 and the filter at autozone was $12. Maybe I can be lucky like you one day

The STP filter should have a plastic "cage" on the inside. These filters are the 'e-core' design that a few manufacturers use that seems to work pretty well. BITOG (Bob Is The Oil Guy) can help you with oil filter selection. I use OEM filters, which get mixed reviews, but really keep my chain rattle at start-up to a min.

I also replace the crush washer every oil change. They are super cheap.
