Ok thanks guys. The last oil change was at the dealer so I should be fine. I'm still going to ask the shop to replace it today. I guess I'll just use this filter for 3,000 miles then go with something better for my next change that can last about 5,000 miles. I'm using mobile 1 5w 30. Thanks again

Woosah! I actually went back to autozone and bought the mobile 1 filter then stopped by the Nissan dealership and got a crush washer for free. Guess I'm good to go now! Thanks guys!

I just went to Advanced Auto Parts, they had a special on castrol oils... with 5qt purchase you receive a free k & n oil filter for $27.99
...If you get lucky like i did, they had the sign in front of the Castrol EDGE platinum oil where it did not belong, thus i got that oil and the k & n filter for 27.99, not a bad deal on my end

The STP filter should have a plastic "cage" on the inside. These filters are the 'e-core' design that a few manufacturers use that seems to work pretty well. BITOG (Bob Is The Oil Guy) can help you with oil filter selection. I use OEM filters, which get mixed reviews, but really keep my chain rattle at start-up to a min.
I also replace the crush washer every oil change. They are super cheap.
