Nope. No perforation. But isn't that where this will lead to? So some of the guys here said it's an easy fix. Sand it down with normal sand paper and touch it up with paint? Is there anything that can be done with the deformation?

You aren't gonna like this...I had both issues. I had to cut part of the arch out and glass the area. I fixed it once, used everything I knew would work and 2 months after I sprayed it, it came back. So I cut it out, glassed it now after almost a year it is popping up behind the fix. Someone needs to make glass arches for our cars and cut the area out. You can't fix rust when it comes through like that. You have to cut it out and what you can't see is the killer. I have dealt with this on many older Porsches and the true fix is to remove a large area and or the quarter and replace it. I have 132K miles on mine.

Also my muffler flange broke to, I just welded it up. Took all of 45 minutes. just take it to a muffler shop.

Thanks. I just had the exhaust issue fixed. Cost me 80 bucks from an exhaust shop.

Sorry noob question, but what do you mean by glassing it?

fiberglass. You can cut the section out and fiberglass the line back in or weld new metal. Glassing is cheaper and most shops won't weld sections in like that unless they do custom work.

80 bucks isn't bad. I went over some train tracks and all the sudden my car sounded cool! LOL I realized my flange split. Damn.

Same here i just noticed it one day. I thought it sounded way cooler. Now it's too quiet. Gotta get the z tube soon. How much did the glassing cost you?

I did it myself but I would guess about a grand if you took it somewhere and had them do it. Also keep in mind no one will warranty rust fixes. They will tell you the whole quarter needs to be replaced to prevent it from popping up else where....they are right.

It certainly is more involved then touching up a single spot!

That is a common area for rust on all cars. There is a series of welds there that hold the inner part of the rear fender to the outer portion. They are only simple spot welds and it is easy for moisture to get in between the 2 pieces of metal. Once it gets there it just kinda stays and eats away at the fender from the inside out. I wouldnt piece in fiberglass because you can probably only see about 30% of what is actually there. I would just replace the fender all together if it is that big of a bother, unless you want to deal with it over and over again like Porschephd ^^^^^^

That was my whole point, you can't see what else is bad. What is almost naked to the eye will push through the other side. I cut out a good section and it has popped up in another area. I will let it ride for a while and either pull the quarter or come up with some cool arch like the 934 if you are familar with those. Similar to like what BMW did on the early M3s.

Any good shops in Toronto for rust removal or curing tiny rust spots near the edge of the fender? (around the inner ring of the rear fenders...)

So they'll fix it if its perforated? grab the nearest screwdriver and "perforate" it for them.

kidding, but not really.

But anyway, rust is cancerous and unfortunately is a never ending struggle. Shop around at all of your local body shops about getting a patch panel welded in.
