15,000 mile service costs?

I remember reading some posts about people having to pay for their 15,000 mile service. I'm due on Monday, so I called the dealer. He said it's FREE and is part of my first 2 years maintenance. They'll do the oil change, air filter, clean the engine compartment and battery cables, and balance and rotate the tires. How come some of you have paid for this?

Re: 15,000 mile service costs?

if you bought the car there, you probably already paid for it

it varies by dealer. the average is around $200.

I just checked into this also. Niello Infiniti was charging $330. Infiniti Farifield was $240 both in Northern California.

I spoke to the service manager and checked the neat maintenance reminder kit that you get with your car. What is needed is to change oil, replace the in-cabin filter, rotate the tires, check the exhaust, fuel lines, liquids.

For the coupe, he said all I really need to do is change the oil. I will probably follow the DYI and change the cabin filter myself.

The Dealer is Southwest Infiniti in Houston. I called my service manager to make the appointment like I always do and we discussed everything. I asked 2 or 3 times to make sure and he kept saying yes, it's free with my 2 year service plan. If he tries to charge me on Monday we're gonna have a serious problem!!

I'll be anxious to hear how your experience with them is after their done. I bought my coupe there a few weeks back and they told me about the free 2 year sevice. That includes ALL service. I'll be getting my first free oil change in a couple weeks.

Newbie35, don't ever go to Niello Infiniti. Lot's of incompetent people there.

Re: 15,000 mile service costs?

You got hosed, by paying $210 for the 15k service. Just the thought of paying that much for the little labor that was actually performed is sickening. All they probably did was change the oil and oil filter, air filter, and they did some mechanical inspections. Dealers make more than half their revenue in maintenance rather than actually selling you the vehicle.

Re: 15,000 mile service costs?

Well, I took the car in this morning. I got a call at lunchtime saying that my front brakes were worn down pretty bad so they are replacing those for free too. I asked again and he said all of this is free with my service plan. So, air filter, oil change and filter, balance and rotate tires, brakes, and clean battery cables is all free.

Has anyone else received this service for free??

Re: 15,000 mile service costs?

Ok, you keep reffering to a service plan. When I used to sell cars we would stick in a service plan into the price of the vehicle , usually around $900-$1200 that takes care of all of the maintenance until the prescribed date comes. It is usually built into leases to promote the leasee to bring the vehicle in for it's service and so I could then try and sell another vehicle to you. Even if you didn't use the service you already paid for it.That is why I think that they keep saying it's free. JMO

Re: 15,000 mile service costs?

Well, there was no additional charge or line item on my invoice. I knew the first 2 years maintenance was free ie: oil changes and fluids, but I didn't realize it included air filters and tire balancing. The dealer just called and said it's ready and the charge is 0$. I definitely paid sticker price for the car, I think it was $32,900 with my options, but I don't remember paying anymore for this. Oh well, I'm happy either way!!
