I bought an '06 about 6 months ago. Drives like a dream! I can't believe how solid it feels on the highway too. (Then again, I was coming from a 96 Corolla with 100hp). I've had virtually zero issues with my car so far, and I trust it to last.

My only issue, which I can manage for now, is the fuel tank issue that occasionally crops up. If you're unfamiliar with it, the car has a problem with filling up where the pump will stop filling after a few gallons. It's rather frustrating. I can work around it because I live by a Costco and they have a shorter nozzle on their fuel pumps. For whatever reason, that averts the problem and the car fills up all the way with no trouble. Every other gas station I've gone to has not worked (all 3 I've tried). I'll keep hunting. It's frustrating, but manageable for now. I'm still doing more research on how to remedy the problem.

I have a 2006 6sp coupe. No real problems. No electrical or mechanical issues. The only 'thing' I don't about the G is the transmission. Shifting into 2nd gear takes a while. I am not talking about racing or driving fast. Just driving normally (street driving). I switch over from several Honda/Acura cars so this is new to me. Also the G is a bit on the heavy side and not as quick around the corners as other cars in the same class.

its a good car. got my 07 coupe 6mt a few months ago and it still puts a smile on my face every time i look at it, let alone start it up and drive it. i have the rev-up engine and so far (with 14k miles on my car) im not having any oil consumption issues. my only problem is my driver side window. it acts up every once in a while and can sometimes be a pain in the ***. get it you wont regret it ever.

I really appreciate all of the comments guys, all of you have been very helpful. I have another question though, what exactly is a rev-up and non rev-up engine?

I love my G. Got in in January. Its an 04 with 72k miles on it and its like a dream. It had some work previously done to it and they person before me did a good job. I will say i drove many G's before the one i have... all are great but if you get one, mod the suspension first.
A. The difference between the motors your asking about is right in the title. Rev-ups came in the 07 and up if im not mistaken. They rev 500rpm higher than the previous years, and if you look at the pic posted they have a dual intake, thats about all the major differences.
B. id go for an 06 or earlier (not 03). They will be cheaper and they are more abundant.
C. Never heard of any electronic issues nor have i had any
D. Mods, no harder than most cars, a plethora of parts are available. If you do headers youll have to lift the engine but thats about the only thing i know of that can be more difficult for a G and its not even that big of a deal. BUt if you get one and choose to mod it, id go suspension first. Our motors are pushed pretty good from the factory, bolt ons really dont add much power. Id make it turn good, look good, and sound good, those are what you will notice the most. and make sure you get a manual... iv driven a variety of manual cars and IMO our gearbox was made by jesus

Thanks so much for this VERY useful post! That answered a lot of my questions! Why do you say not a 2003 though? I found a 2003 red 6MT G with 113,000 for $12895 in my area, but I feel like that is way too expensive. Red G's as I can see are hard to come by, especially MT ones.
