Feet hitting bottom of console?

I recently purchased an 06' G35 Coupe AT about three weeks ago. Recently though, I've noticed this one issue that constantly annoys the hell out of me when I drive it (didn't notice it the first week I drove it). I have the Aluminum pedals installed and everytime I switch from gas to brake or vice versa, my foot either hits the little cheap underside of the console or actually gets stuck in it. This makes driving very uncomfortable because I have to keep my feet lower on the pedals to avoid hitting it. It also scuffs my dress shoes

I looked underneath because I thought that plastic cover was broken but it seems to be in the correct position. I also have my seat as far back as possible, and that still doesn't work. I'm only 5'10" and wear a size 10-10.5. Anyone else have this problem and is there a fix around this other that cutting out some of the plastic cover?

I did a search and this guy had a similar issue but no one responded:

I just notice that today, but I always drive more like I push the gas n brake with my toes towards the bottom so this never happens to me

I mostly use the tip of my shoe, which is a size 12, I try not to lift up my feet much at all but I have never had this problem.
