were you actually driving or stopped when you tried shifiting? if you're stopped at a light or something, you can't shift, that's just the way the car's programmed.
if you are driving down the road, just pop it over to tiptronic and shift up/down. if that's what you were doing, and it still wasn't working, then have your mechanic check it out. it's usually a solenoid that's gone bad. a guy had the same problem in his '08 sedan. he made a thread on it this weekend.

Great post. So happy you took the time to try to help a fellow G owner.

Give us more specifics about what was going on if you like, but timmy4me nailed it.
If you were stopped it was not shifting by design. If you were rolling, it should have been working as you'd expect.
The ' + ' means shift up and the ' - ' means shift down. It's on automatically as soon as you slide the stick over to manual mode.

Thats how it is. The stick doesn't stay in the + or the -. You push it up or down and it will shift and return to the middle. Thats how its supposed to be. You have to be at a certain RPM to shift up (or down) sometimes. Like if you're going 10mph you probably can't go higher than 2nd gear. You can keep pushing it up to + and it will still stay in 2

THANK YOU! I had no idea how it worked lol. I thought the stick would either stay in + or -
