Engine blown !!! plz help

OK well guys here is my story . I own a 2005 mt6 coupe . Its got 98000km on it. g35 canada let me know the warrenty ended in april of this year . I was driving the car on the highway when she started to sputter and stall. I pulled over and ther was a POOl of oil under the car with in mins . Had her towed into the stealership and have now been told the block needs to be replaced. I had just started the oil consuption test too because it was slowly burning oil. They told me its gonna be $8k for a used engine installed or $15k for a new one !! does anybody out there have some ideas or suggestions as to what i should do !

Find a used engine cheap here or on another forum and have an independant shop install it.

Man you really need to do a better job of telling us where in canada you are. I would look for a REVUP motor online and ebay. Check car-part.com for motors. Another idea is buying a car that has been wrecked from insurance auction to pull the motor out and then sell of the vehicle - engine. You can always look at rebuilt motors that are forged for the long run as well. Cheapest option will be used motor but who know history and these motors consume oil. Any motor that came from nissan that is revup will burn oil it could be 5 yrs old or 6 months old. They did not redesign shi*T because it still burns oil. Look at these prices and threads listed to get an idea of short block and long block.

I have a feeling we will be seeing a lot more of these threads along with plz diagnosing this ticking noise that is about to explode in the next few years on G35driver along with the occasional why do people hate on me when I bump to my BOSE stereo.

Stage 1 Short Block packages start at $2765 and include CP Pistons, Eagle Rods, ACL Bearings, machining, align hone, balance, blueprint and pro assembly!

Stage 1 Long Block packages start at $3690 and include the Stage1 Short Block, ARP L19 Head Studs, ARP Main Studs, Cometic Head Gaskets, Mill & Clean Heads and assembly.

Edit: Check ebay and such along with sites I listed for you. I would not pay more than $1000-$1500 for a revup motor and $700-$900 for a cd009 tranny. Any other tranny is only worth $500 tops and that is if it is extreme low mileage and latest revision except cd009.

Edit: Here is a sedan and this is a manual with revup motor. Nice 18" sport wheels and not much damage to the vehicle 59k miles. If you decide to buy it you could just pull the motor and what ever else you need and then just sell it off. That is what most junk yards and salvage yards do and you can get vehicles direct from COPART. I would trust a motor out of a Sedan over coupe but ultimately they are all Oil Consuming motors.

Do a shortblock and move all your accessories heads and everything else over from your old motor.

Just make sure you dont let some stupid a55hole at the dealership put everything back together.

My car mysteriously started leaking oil after I had my block replaced 6 months ago. Inspected and found it coming from the oil filter. Removed the oil cooler and found that the dipsh;t tech pinched the O ring when he put the oil cooler on the new block and it started pi$$ing oil a lot the past 2 weeks.

Whatever you do/decide, good luck! In your case I would avoid the dealership AT ALL COSTS!

I heard from the dealers that we have a 7/70 warranty on our cars. Which is only for the trans and engine. 7 years, 70k miles. are you still in that window?

First of all what caused the oil to leak out? You said you were going though an oil consumption test?

Did the dealership add or change the oil?

Did the oil filter come loose? Drain bolt fell off? If so, the dealership could be at fault.
