Shifter Movable w/o Depressing Clutch

Took my car in to Infiniti Service because I noticed I could shift from 2nd to Neutral w/o depressing the clutch at all. Infiniti tells me this is completely normal for the G35. I'm no expert on cars, but I thought the clutch was a little more involved with the transmission and shifting gears. Need some advise on what to do.
Thanks

If done correctly, you can shift from 2nd all the way up to 6th, and back down to 2nd without ever touching the clutch. I used to do it all the time in my WRX when my leg got tired from Chicago gridlock (haven't tried it in the G yet...because of the wider torque curve, I find myself not shifting as much in traffic)

All the clutch does is allow you to unload the gearbox to make meshing up the gears easier. But if you time things and rev match correctly, you can mesh the gears up when there is little or no load on the input shaft, and you can usually slide right into gear.

You can do all the shifts without a clutch, but that takes mucho practice and a little luck to do it without grinding.
The service peeps are right. Your ride is ok.

seems pretty normal. on my previous ride: 94 teg gs-r, i could shift it from 2nd to 5th without depressing clutch, only at the right moment though... i don't know if this will cause any harm on tranny, but yes, it's doable.

Absolutely correct. It takes a little practice, or a little luck, but a good set of syncros make it fairly easy, if the tranny is unloaded. Coasting is a good time to try this - just go slow on the shift, and you must rev-match very well. I don't recommend that you try this too often, as it does put additional wear on your syncros if you are off on your rev match by mutch.

It's normal. When there's load on the drivetrain it'll be tough to get out of gear,
but when there is no load or rpm's matched, the shifter will not only go into N,
but you can gently push it into another gear w/o clutch-in as well.

It's slipped a few times on it's own. I was just trying to recreate the slip w/ my gf in the car for a 2nd opinion. Thanks for all your responses.

What is the rev-match?

Just keep pressing on the gas till X revolutions and push the gears into place?

yeap, Just keep pressing on the gas till X revolutions and push the gears into place.
To get the gears out hit the gas while in gear then shift out right after letting go of the gas without depressing the clutch, if timed right it will smoothly shift into neutral. Then rev match to get into the next gear without depressing the clutch.
I heard this was a way of speed shifting.
