Ok For all of you on Long Island thinking of getting a clear Bra DO NOT GO TO RECONDITION USA IN FARMINGDALE!! Damn guy wants $700 for the whole front end and won't negotiate his price cause "He's the only guy on the island that does it". That kind of attitude Sux and after asking around there are others that do it he just happens to be the only one listed on 3M's website. Bottom line is instead of me getting it done there and telling you guys to go there I am doing the oppsite cause of his crap a$$ attitude. Just a heads up.

I posted this in the Northeast forum as well but Figured I'd share the story here too.

 

that price is not too far off, i paid around $630 for thr front bumper, hood, lights, and side view mirrors here in south florida. i called just about every dealer here in florida off of the 3m site and the prices were all about the same. see if there are any other dealers off of the island, like brooklyn, manhatten, staten island, it may be worth the drive if you will be saving $70, or you may get lucky and find an installer that is mobile.

 

In Illinois -

My install was $700, but that included:
clear bra + install ($650 full kit)
30% window tint all around ($50 - negociated cuz the bra install was so expensive)
aluminum pedals install (free)

the guy i spoke with was really cool, but said he charges $650 for the clear bra + install, but was willing to negotiate on tint prices, and he installed my pedals for free.

i say, if the service sux, and the guy is an a$$, move on to another installer.., but i'll pay a little more if the service is good..

 

WEll, you shoul dhave checked out www.se-ex.com on Long Island. I got it done for $550 and I got the entire hood, bumper, mirrors, and a piece in front of the sunroof. The install was custom and all the edges were wrapped. I am very happy with them. If you ask around www.freshalloy.com you will see that everyone is happy about them....

I've been doing a fair amount of research in the Seattle area and, so far, it's running around $700 for a custom job, as well. Best I've seen for mail ordering is $420 + shipping. Figure it'll still cost $200 to cart it someplace for install. Bottom line though is to get the protection on before the first rock chip and if that costs $700, I'll happily(?) pay it. ...dean

Well I didnt even get the car yet So I still have time to price it out But it seemed to me that most were paying around 500 for an install So when I confronted this guy about his price and he told me I didnt have a choice it pissed me off. Long story short I found a place to do it for the 500 but it's not a special job like some that have the whole hood covered, something like that i would pay 700 for but dont see the reasoning behind paying this guy 700 for a basic install plus his attitude sucked. tell you the truth I'd pay 650 for someine else to do it besides him based on principle alone. Ill check out that site though thanx.

That's a GREAT price. Can i ask you, when you say the "entire hood" - that is covering the hood front to back, right? (I just ask because other people have said "entire hood" and they meant "14 inches from the front edge")..

I had a bit more done for mine, (entire hood, bumper, mirrors, front of rear wheel arches, PLUS half of front fenders, and headlights) and it cost me a whopping $850. But I'm happy with the work (completely custom, wrapped edges, 12 mill material and 20 mill on the headlights).

 

GForce, go with SE-EX. D-Nyholm lives in Long Island and he was the first to my knowledge to get his G done by SE-EX. Since then, they have done so many.

Full hood coverage: The bra material is only 48" but the hood at the tips is a couple of inches longer. They put a nice cut to the bra at those tips. You can just see it here:

 

only person my ***; i've had cars done at my bmw dealership (non-bmw cars incl.) in huntington. its right on 25. its never cost me more than 400.

 

for ston-guard. it came out ok. but at 30- 50$ an hour that the installer charged (175$ labor), i am kinda disappointed. Maybe its just the clear bra in general.

 

That sucks! Actually, I live in Miami and right this minute there is a guy at my house doing that for $650, that includes the front bumper, rear bumper, lights, mirrors and labor is included. He also does tints so he's going to give them to me for half the price. This guy is great, he comes to your house to install it.
