It goes like this:
You're in 4th, let's say. Downshift lever to 3rd, blip gas.
the tranny will downshift smoothly to the lower gear.

The 05's come with auto-rev matching (blip throttle) on the
AT's. very cool.
I have a AT 05 model. I don't understand what the auto-rev matching. YES, when i downshift, the car REV up by itself, is that what u mean?

another question is, what if i step the gas after i lower the gear. There seems to be a lagging period between different gear.

It means the car revs up so that your head doesnt get whiplash with the sudden jerk of the car when there is no rev matching, (which is the case usually with new manual drivers).

Wait for spin down, give it a tad of gas while you gently engage.
I have no slippage and no jerk. It does take a bit of practice at first.
You'll get the hang of it. Upshifts are rev matching too in a sense
since you don't want to loose the flywheel's momentum completely. If
you loose momentum on the flywheel and engage, you get a little
jerky knod forward. If you get a jerk backward, then obviously your
rev is too high for that speed.
