Mobil 1 Oil Change

How long before a change.. (got about 21 k on the car).

Dont give me the B/S 3 month or 3k mile..

Has to be longer than that. The beamers are changing at 10k per service..

Mercs and BMWS have a higher capacity (closer to 10qts) AND a sump system. You cannot compare their filtration system to ours.

There is oil that will hold up to 15K, but our filtration wont. You wont get past 5K w/o alot of wear.

Oil is so cheap, why don't you just change it often. Wouldn't you rather do that than damage then engine.

Want to change your oil less... use Amsoil, I used amsoil on my last car and it was amazing stuff! check it out http://amsoil2.cpinternet.com/script...msoiloaf:index type in the year of your car then click build it and get all the info you need!

Provides Extended Drain Intervals

Due to its superior synthetic composition and advanced performance additives, AMSOIL 10W-30 performs much longer than do conventional petroleum and other synthetic motor oils. No other major oil manufacturer matches AMSOIL's 25,000-mile or one-year drain interval recommendations.
I actually drained mine at 15,000 mile intervals (1 year) and had ZERO problems!

eh. marketing is marketing. only consistent oil analysis will tell you the maximum length you should go.

outside of that, change it every 5k and you'll be fine.

If you are at 21k, you're well beyond time to change. Should be done every 5k minimum (yes even with synthetic).

If you want trouble free driving for many years, change it often. It's a small price to pay for longevity. Besides, it runs better, and has more power with fresh oil.

I changed to synthetic oil early on, but some like to wait longer to fully break in the engine b4 switching. (10-20k)

P.S. - none of this is "B/S".

From what I have seen in all the analysis they provide plus 2 independent (non Amsoil provided tests) their claims of oil break down periods held up. Plus like I said my own personal experiences showed the same results.

I wouldn't hesitate to use it in any of my cars and run it how they recommend.

7,500 miles is fine with Synthetic Oil. 3,500 with conventional oil.. Anything more often is overkill and wasting your money.

Sorry, Blackstones on the VQ dont support those intervals. Sure, you can go to 12K if you want. I doubt youre going to like what you see. Running rich, plus light ring pressure, youre fuel dilution will be thru the roof. That has nothing to do with the oil your running, but even Amsoil wont be doing well after 7K. I've seen 12K oil reports on VQ3.0s (maxima.org). I'd love to see you run 15K on your VQ35. It would be very educational, to say the least.

Thanks guy.. i have been changing every 4000 miles with synthetic.. (GSEDAN MAN) the car has 21k on it which i put to explain that im past the break in period.. So with syntheitic im guessing that 5000-7500 should be a good recommendation then...

Ok I understand now.

...as far as intervals, I feel 7500 miles (on synthetic) is too long. I tend to err on the side of caution and go for 5000 miles or slightly less in winter months.Your choice.

Many have chosen oil analyses for breakdowns of just what's happening in the engine.

Yep this is an issue that could be debated for ever

I think 5,000 is fine...

I don't run Amsoil in my WRX I run Mobile 1 15w30 and change it at 3,000 miles but I think that is excessive.

If youre Blackstone reporting, there's nothing to debate. I suggest anyone who wants to run out to 5K, do a report for themselves. Climates and driving habits will dicate your interval.

http://www.g-owners.com/pic_showall....lackstone+Labs

Plenty of people with highway driving are seeing acceptable wear up to 5500. Whereas my oil at 3500 is pretty much spend due to 95% city driving(and fuel dilution).

I agree, there are some good oils out there.. I really wish the VQ trended better at 7500.. I'd love to run that interval myself.

More importantly, the VQ is probably at 200k engine regardless of what you do (within reason), so perhaps all this worrying too much about the interval is kinda pointless.

Well I am not debating anything about the Blackstone reports.. Good for them, lots of good data. Don't know how biased or unbiased it is but it seems pretty straight.

I know what I will be running in my own car and it is based on a few things, My prior experiences, Data from here or there, and recommendations by other knowledgable individuals and their experience.

He asked for recommendations and I gave him mine Could mine be wrong? Sure but then so could any other information you get over the internet

I would have to agree 100% on that point
