traction upgrades
traction upgrades
so i recently got an 03 coupe 6MT with 50k miles on it
i like to really bump up the speed a little bit when i get bored, but the car slides a little bit in the back when i'm turning or hit little bumps in the road...like even at 35 on a recomended 25 turn......... i expected much better handling on a car like this
what kind of upgrades can i do to increase my traction/handling
traction is more important cuz i dont have it!!!
i know sway bars are probably the easiest to get but i feel like i'll need more
any suggestions?

If you're lowered! Excessive camber can cause quicker loss of traction. Aftermarket camber arms will fix this. Also, what kind of tires are you running? Try lowering your tire pressure a bit. It will help.

G35 sedan w/ too much money in mods

Things that will help:
Better/newer tires-Look in to the Nitto Invos
Drop-coilovers with adjustable dampening
Sways
Suspension components all like new including bushings
Keeping factory specs on alignment-will probably need front and rear camber arms and rear toe bolts to achieve this
Then your car will handle like a Z, you'll just have spent a few thousand dollars more than you expected to get there.
If you're on a budget the mod with the best bang for the buck to improve handling, not necessarily traction, would be the sways. $300 and your car will handle completely different than it does stock.

All good advice Tim....^....but all the sways on our planet won't help traction if he's running cheap hard compound tires. UTQG needs to be less than 300 to achieve decent traction for the street.

Handling is primarily a chassis ability to take turns at speed. Traction is a tires road holding ability. Tires play a large part in handling and the largest role in traction. Suspension also plays a large part in handling but a slightly smaller role in traction. They are still fairly different concepts but at the same time they are codependent.

Motordyne Engineering sells some great sways. Www.motordyneengineering.com is the direct source. Also, vendors such as b2autodesigns and Strafe automotive carry other brands such as Hotchkis, Eibach etc. Here's the link: https://g35driver.com/forums/suspension-vendor-225/ good luck!
I have Sumitomo for my tires and they really do stick to the road. I notice when i did canyon runs that my stock sway bars were crap b/c i was trying to keep up w/ the guys in front of me and my car would fish tale a little bit. Got the sway bars now and now i notice that it helps out big on the turns. I am waiting to put on my strut bar to see how more more that would help out. If you want more to stiffen up your suspension, contact this guy. They can get all the parts you need for you car.
