Maintenence Cost Q's

Ive been reading/lukring/searching around this forum and a few other G forums for a little while now. And, Im highly interested in buying a LR 05 G35 5AT in the spring w/ 50k miles.

Im wondering what type of maintenence you guys have to deal with, using this car as a DD? My closest infiniti dealership is about 50 miles away and I have a Nissan dealership intown. I pray that the maintenence isnt too bad because I dont want to settle for a 350z.

Thanks in advance guys

I bought my g at 50000 miles first thing I did was changed out my transmission fluid and differential both fliuds ended up costing me 69.99 then 100 to flush and add new fluids. I replaced my brakes about 10000 miles after cant remember how much but wasnt more than 300 for rotors and pads. I did the install on that. Then modding bug hit me and replaced suspension felt to floaty for me replaced with tokicko hp struts which was 400 all around and tein s techs to lower my stance which all can be bought here on the forum then after that did a tune up. Replaced my plugs changed my oil and got a stillen intake for free from a homie hook up paid 400 for tune up.

That's not bad at all. I wonder if everyone else has been that lucky.

A G35 and 350Z are for all intents and purposes the same maintenance wise. They are almost the same car underneath.

If you can do suspension work, and other basic maintenance, then this car should be quite affordable for maintenance. I've spent about ? 1.6k to 'rehab' my 95k mile G which included: tires/front bushings/ALL fluids/hoses/belts/plugs/brakes/new dampers. The tires were 950 (19").

From what I have read on the forums these cars are robust, but no Camry. You shouldn't have any problems using it for DD duty besides crappy mileage.

I'm no mechanic. but I can turn a wrench decently. Did you spend all 1.6k at one time. What other problems have you run into?

I realize that they are essentially the same car but for some reason I was assuming that the infiniti badge may be a little more pricey. especially at the dealership.

Unless you have a Nissan extended warranty there's no reason to even consider taking your G to the Infiniti stealership! Maintenance on our G35s is replacement of all fluids/filters every 30K miles at a cost of $300 +/- a few. Quality aftermarket brake pads should last 20K miles possibly longer depending on your driving style. If you use quality synthetic oil and filters oil changes s/b done every 4500 miles, I wouldn't go longer. Tires with a UTQG (wear rating) of 300 should last 30K miles if balance and alignment is correct.
Good Luck finding a low mileage G35 with service records in mint condition...Gary

What part of va are you located? There are about 3 infinity stealership 10mile apart from each other in northern va.

Brake pad every 20-30k miles, back tires about every 30-50k miles, and oil change.

Southern.VA/NC line near Greensboro NC.

I might as well be considered NC.

About 1 year she just turn 35k. Got her when she was only 29k. I had to change the back tires, front brake pads and S belts. Also oil every 3k.

60k miles means you will be spending money freshen up the vehicle and depending on the condition of the vehicle from the previous owner.

Tires, brakes, and oil changes are heavy consumables for the G35 compared to other vehicles. With 60k miles you will want to change out the following fluids and parts

Transmission fluid
Differential fluid
Brake Fluid
Oil change and filter
Belts
Compression rod bushing (check for wear n tear or clunking noise in the front)
Axle clicking (Axle needs to be re-greased in the rear both sides)
Cabin filter
Air filter
Wiper blades
Tires (check for tread level and abnormal wear due to alignment)
Brake pads (check life prior to changing)
Leaking valve covers (common issue check before powertrain expires)
Ac / Radio control ( if defective or later down the road around 100k)
Window motor ( if defective or later down the road around 100k)
