I ordered a 04 coupe about 2 weeks ago from dealership near me. I think i got a good deal, about $500 below invoice but he said he had to locate the car. I agreed and he said it would take 3 days to get here. I said fine and he would call me later with the vin. I got the vin but he keeps delaying when I can pick it up. He called me yesterday telling me the car is there already and I go to pick it up. When I get there, he has me waiting there for an hour then he finally tells me its not there yet. He tells me hes gonna deliver it to my house today and he just called me to tell me that it wont get here today. I don't know what to do He told me the car is coming from near boston and I have to vin # but how can I tell if hes BSing me???

he keeps making up excuses, like he couldn't find any drivers. at first he said the car is gonna have around 300 miles on it because they had to drive it from boston to ny. I agreed but now they said its gonna be trucked over. I asked if its gonna have 300 miles on it, he said yea. i was like wtf????? he said maybe not then... Can i tell if the car is a test drive model?

 

Hey HenryG, you paid for the car already? 300 miles seems alot to me. Probably a demo for test drive or something.

 

How about you ask him what the deal is...tell him you have been patient but somethings aren't adding up and you want some answer. Then ask him all the questions you have...like "Why would there be 300 miles on it if its getting trucked over?" That would put him in a small spot and you can tell if someone is making up an answer or not...also is this a used car sales man or something and is he legit. Does he speak good english? Maybe its a language barrier thats not helping him get his point across?

 

i only put a small deposit down for the car. he speaks perfectly good english so thats not the problem. this place isn't a small dealership, its probably one of the largest on the east coast. This place owns a lot of dealerships.

 

I would never buy a new car if it had more than 15 miles on it - in other words I would never buy a new car that had been test driven AT ALL. I have test driven many makes and models of new cars, and I have never had the salesman tell me to please keep the RPM under 4000 - so I don't - and neither does anyone else. I think the people experiencing excessive oil consumption may have had their car driven hard during a test drive from the dealership or from the monkeys you drive the car into the prep bays at the port.

There was a post recently over on Fresh Alloy from someone who worked at the port driving the new cars into the inspection/prep area. He said whenever there was a nice car, they would rev it really high and then drive it HARD to the prep area and then of course shut it off without any time to idle and cool down. This was a joke to all these morons and they never thought twice about what kind of damage they might be doing to the expensive cars they were mistreating like this. So it is bad enough that possibly all our cars get driven like this off the boat, I sure as hell wouldn't want to add to it by having some hard test drives on top of it.

It is not worth it in the long run to buy a new car that has been test driven, in my opinion. I would rather buy a used car that has hopefully been broken in properly and well maintained.

Henry I take it your from NY. If you are what dealer are you dealing with because an 04' should have been in your hand the same day you went to pick it up. If you want I'll let you deal with my salesman from Long Island and I m sure they'll do much much better by you. Thats bullsh*t and I wouldn't take delivery on that car. I mean 300 miles are you kidding me. Your definitely gettin geedup. Let me know if you need info for a new salesman.

vin, the bad part is the dealership has a really good rep. the dealership is competition infiniti. i heard really good things about them but i'm getting screwed over. the car was suppose to come from near boston

 

if the car has 300 miles and it's getting shipped to NY, you're definetly getting a tester. I would just tell the guy, if the car has more than 50 miles I don't want it because it's not a new car. You're the one paying, don't let him kick you around.

And Just to be sure there is no confusion, I witnessed that kind of behavior... I was never driving the cars. I worked in the prep area and saw it all the time though.

Damn Competition is good so thats pretty surprising. Anyhow yea you should def. be able to get back your deposit. Atlantic Infiniti is the dealer to work with.
