for the cheapest model Blizzacks your looking $1000+ for 20's, just guessing on sizes I came up with $1148 before shipping. Keep in mind winter tires are just that, winter tires. Driving them on highways a lot when there really isnt a need for them burns them down fast.

I drove it on all season tires and was fine as far as control, but I also have 13 years driving on crap icey snow covered roads, and a lot of experience with RWD on those conditions without any type of traction control. Honestly, I would just keep the Acura. Will a G work in the snow? Yes. Is it worth selling a beater because you miss your G? No. Spring will be here soon enough.I had to have quite a bit of work done to fix the crap one winter did to the car. I had the rockers blasted and re-sealed because snow builds up behind the side skirts and just sits there, causing rust and water damage. I had to have a piece of my wheel well cut out and replaced because the pressure from snow and ice build up in the wells pushed the body out and cracked it, causing it to rust. I'm one who keeps things clean and spotless and keeps salt off the car and it still did a number on the car.

dont think about the money you're getting from selling the acura, think about the money you're saving from not owning TWO cars. insurance, maintenance, all that extra crap. get rid of the acura.

My winter tires are Continental extreme winter contacts. Great tires so far.

Well there's a few other things I need to fix on my G so snow tires are definitely too pricey right now but I guess I have a full year to worry about that. Thanks for all the input everyone! much appreciated

I just got my G last year myself and was driving an Integra before that. Would have kept the Integra if I had space as a winter beater. I managed to get to good used 18"s with blizzaks off a friend's friend for a good price and they've been solid.

i've never driven manual without snow tires but the stopping distance and grip overall still felt better than any automatics i've driven that did not have snow tires. not sure how bad winter is in your part of BC but even in Toronto where it's relatively mild (very mild this year), i wouldn't drive my G without winters. i would keep an eye out for good used winter tires spring onwards. you might get a good deal. i did on mine.

EDIT: also as a comparison, taking a left or right turn on a right can be a bit more challenging than my acura in snow. her butt likes to swing around a bit. especially on the lefts. just gotta be easy on dropping clutch and gas. i also found accelerating (at safe speeds for the weather) a bit of a challenging.

Why would you buy 20" tires? I think it would be cheaper just to go on Kijiji and get some CHEAP 18" rims and some rubber. Much cheaper that way!

Ya I'm driving an Integra right now also. And honestly it is the best snow vehicle I have seen. Every time it snows I will be passing jeeps and 4 by 4 trucks uphills and not even sliding at all. Ya I guess it would be alot smarter to buy 18" rims for snow tires but I don't have alot of money and it's hard to pass up free rims haha.

Just ran across a clip of someone running with summer tires. I can vouch that they are that bad in winter:

And a g37:

um yeah, if it so much as flurries this thing isnt moving with these summer tires. i thought about putting the blizzaks on my stock 19's or getting a set of 17's from the base coupe and putting tires on those. probably end up costing the same either way.

i dont even know how much id wanna drive this car in the snow on winter tires. its scared the hell out of me way too many times that i almost still wouldnt trust it!!!
