Good choice in intakes, Stillen makes a great intake using that giant K&N filter and you won't have issues with the dreaded heat soak cause the intake is made of plastic composit. You could drill a hole in the radiator support using a hose directed at the intake. Don't forget the scoop that should sit behind your grille to gather the air. As you can tell this has been done before by some genius named Sean here in SoCal....

eh, not the biggest supporter of this mod. it just draws air from the same place your OEM setup does. a lot of people mistakenly think that the factory snorkel draws air from the gap between the hood and the grill, therefore they think it's not getting enough air. not true, the snorkel actually draws air directed from the opening in the grill near the hood latch. the air comes in through the grill and lower openings and meets resistance at the radiator, it's then directed upward through the opening(on top of the grill) and goes into the snorkel, which leads to the intake filter. same air you'd draw by adding a scoop in the grill and plumbing it to the filter but now less pressurized.

^ if you came over and felt the difference first-hand, you would change your mind

I am confident that my mod results in a double digit intake temp decrease over almost any other setup.

I drilled 10 3/8" holes in the air box that faces metal support..then using a magic marker marking thru the new holes into support. then drilling the support with the ten new holes.. nada, waste of time

I did a little DIY a while back with this mod. Could have made it better w/ larger hosing.

Good Job Henry! If you have any doubts about how this works consider how your G reacts to cooler temps, I have no problems breaking my tires loose on a cool morning in second gear....the VQ motor loves cooler air!

haha, thanks for chiming in.

i will say this, Sean is a VERY smart guy and that the fact that he is behind this is the ONLY reason i don't completely discount anyone else's results, lol

I love DIYs.. Nice.

I see three improvements that could be made:
1) Smoother Tubing
2) Gradual & Linear Reduction in Tube Diameter (From input to output)
3) Channel Air Flow to the Center of Filter (Hole location drilled in housing)
....and perhaps larger diameter tubing considering #2.

That should decrease turbulence, increase velocity, and allow better distribution of air.
I may look into this mod myself.

Buy a 350z airbox, it has a hole cut in the front as it was designed with this idea in mind.

All a waste of time IMO, anyone wanting an intake for "power gains" is going to be disappointed. Maybe 3-5HP at best, which you'll never notice. Find an intake with a sound you like and be done, that's all I wanted my pop charger for.
