Is the ride bouncy at all? a way to check is stand next to the car and test it for youself by pushing the car up and down at the corners

You'll know when you need shock/struts, instead of the nice firm side you've been used to all of a sudden you're bouncing down the road. It's like being in the ocean in a row boat....you'll know!

sometimes as shocks/struts wear, your vehicle will begin to bounce more and more so you may not notice the change as it's gradual. check by pushing down the corners and inspecting for leaks in gas shocks.

When your car is bounce up and down, that would be a good time to change them.

Glad this topic was brought up. I was wondering the same...I have a 06 coupe that just turned 40k, does not feel bouncy. But what is a good alternative when compared to the stock setup ? I would not be interested in anything aggressive but maybe a bit of a step up from the O.E. suspension.

Anything as close to O.E. as possible without going crazy ? Or are the ones you had mentioned as close as one would get ?

That's more meant for cars with plusher springs, such as luxury cars or SUVs. My suspension barely budges when I hop into it, so there's really not enough bounce to tell if the shock absorbing capabilities of the vehicle are compromised or not. Maybe hire an obnoxiously fat chick to push down on your car for you?

As mentioned, you'll definitely know when it's time. If your car feels like you're 'floating' and a bit unpredictable I would look at upgrading your shocks.

yeah i started hearing a poping noise from the rear when i would turn out of a sloped driveway around 50k. replaced mine with the tokico d's and then same thing from the tokico's. that's the second set of tokico's that i've had a problem with... probably wont go back to tokicos in the future
