I got to get me a box.
Been a long time!
Ya I still have an original Escort, and a original passport.
Both form when they were made with aluminum bodies, (or was it something else)

I LOVE MY ESCORT 8500 X50!!!!!!!!!!!
it just saved me again!!!
this guy in a Sentra was driving really fast for a few miles so i decided to stay with him
then we went over a hill and my radar starts going crazy, i slowed down b4 going back down the hill but the other guy did not and he got pulled over
i think he had a radar detector 2 but looked like a cheap one

thanks Escort

I read like 5 diff reviews and all five say Escort is the best. V1 is only better in catching signals from behind and something else I dont remember now.

To me the directional arrow on the V1 more then make up for additional price and looks. I don't hear of many people going from a V1 to an 8500. I hear of many 8500 users going to V1's.

With POP detection now available the only thing V-1 gives up to the 8500 is signal filtering for minimizing false alarms. Directional signals mean 200% more confidence you have a fasle signal however. When you pass from a fore to aft signal you know you are good to go. Once you have it you can never go back..and the cheap upgrades are a bonus too.

Just curious, I haven't heard any comments on the beltronics rx65, anyone have one? I've been reading up on it and it sounds like a pretty damn good radar detector.

My V1 has saved me three times in a year and a half. The most recent was yesterday. After leaving a dentist checkup appointment, I found myself on my favorite on-ramp with no traffic ahead. About halfway up the ramp however, the V1 starts screaming with a strong Ka signal from behind. I slow to the speed limit and a few seconds later a marked cruiser passes me on the left.

Another time I was on the freeway late at night and passed an Expedition. Just after I got a strong signal ahead. I slowed to the limit and the Expedition blows by me. About 30 seconds later, just after an overpass about a half mile up I see a cruiser turn on the red and blues and pull him over.

Thank you V1. The arrows are worth far more than the price difference.

However, in your situation, if any generic detector detected a strong Ka, the driver would slow down anyways regardless of the direction. I'm not saying the arrows wouldn't help, but they aren't required either.

Agreed, in this particular situation most people's reaction would be the same. However, you must admit that knowing that there's a police officer behind you, rather than perhaps in front, perhaps behind, or to the side, is still a significant benefit. I knew exactly where he was without looking.

Regarding sensitivity, false signals, multiple bogey tracking, etc., most high-end radar detectors are very close in performance. The V1 on the other hand is the only one that locates the source. Most arguments I've seen against the arrows have boiled down to sour grapes.

Just got the V-1 back from Ohio and they not only added the POP detection for 2 different signals they now have modified it to let me know if the signal it originally detected and beeped on was NOT a radar gun with a special beep so that I know with certainty whats up. nice
