i gotta disagree with the svt mustang having more power in a stock form then a supra that would be fairly-stock the mustang might have more torque but not power.

1st Gen NSX's aren't all that quick in a straight line but it does have more agressive gearing. FF to 2:34.

There's nothing to agree or disagree with here.... It's a fact that the Mustangs I'm referring to were faster than a stock Supra and by a lot. Those SVT Mustangs "Terminators" from late '02 and into '04 were absolute monsters. They were factory rated at 390 HP and 390 TQ, but they were underrated. Most people actually say that those motors actually put out in excess of 430 HP bone stock, and they reliably run the quarter mile in 12.4 to 12.8 seconds completely stock compared to a stock Supra doing the same distance in somewhere between 13.6 to 14 seconds.

I've driven a few of those Mustang Terminators and I can attest to the fact that they are damn fast cars. I've never driven a Supra though, but a stock Supra puts out way less HP and torque than that (320/315 factory rated HP/TQ).... almost 100 HP less at the crank realistically.

and yes there is a agree/disagree here as your 390hp and 390tq to the crank is way less then to the wheel as with almost all cars and if you had it tuned then yes it could put out in excess of 430hp. As for the supra being twin turbo'd running low 13's with 320hp and 315tq to the crank if you tuned the supra for more boost, the supra's turbo's would put out more power then the mustangs supercharger.

and as it says that the svt mustang engine builders improved the motor as it was critical to support 8psi of boost,as for the supra has a motor producing 270hp and 317tq but they gave it smaller, steel wheeled turbochargers and bigger injectors to make 320hp so im thinking that there would be bigger gains from the supra then the mustang with a tune.

if 35k is the cap then you can buy a supra for like 20k ( on the high end ) and dump the rest on power mods and blow the doors off just about anything

I'm not talking about a tuned SVT Mustang putting out 430+ crank HP... I'm talking completely stock one doing so. The 390/390 is just the manufacturers claims, but if you actually put that motor on a motor dyno, they all would put out more than the stock claims. There are lots of reasons why manufacturers claim more or less crank HP than is actually accurate for their cars.. especially pre-2007 before SAE testing procedures for Horsepower were redefined. Sometimes manufacturers underrate HP ratings for insurance reasons, to make their claimed fuel economy numbers seem more believable, or to keep a certain vehicle in their lineup from impinging upon the grounds of a much higher priced vehicle or trim-line of the same vehicle in their lineup for which sales to customers are likely to decrease from being rated so closely to their lower-priced counterparts. In the case of this particular Ford model, some people hypothesize that Ford underrated their power from the factory because of an attempted class-action lawsuit by owners of the previous generation Ford Mustang Cobras for overrating those late 90's Mustang's power (as well as the stigma associated with lying in a negative sense to the customer about such things).... and Ford wanted to make sure that didn't happen again with the new ones they were making.

There are videos of completely 100% bone stock 2003 and 2004 SVT Mustangs putting out 380-390 WHEEL HORSEPOWER on dynos. I $hit you not... take a look if you don't believe me. That equates to easily 430+ crank HP.

As someone who's owned both, the NSX kicks the pants off the G! I bought a red 1997 (new 6 speed MT) NSX-T, which had the removable top that fit under the rear window just above the engine. The NSX-T was quicker than the regular NSX. That car was so much faster than my G it's not even funny. The G feels like a tank compared to the NSX. The NSX felt like a stealth fighter driving that thing.

I sold the Acura when I moved up north and regret it! I love my G though.
