Shifting to 2nd gear chokes....
Hey guys, as everyone knows I am a new G owner and I just noticed this odd problem on my G.
Everytime I shift coming from first going to second on the redline before hitting the limiter, the car sort of feels like its choking and pauses for a quick second then continues to accelerate. Is this normal? All I have is the typical CAI/H/E bolt ons on my car.

I'll try maybe I am shifting too late. but as far as I know I am not hitting the redline. Well atleast I am about to hit it on the very tip. I could be wrong. I'll give it a shot again whenever I get the chance.

My car makes peak power at 6400 which would be an ideal time to shift. By the time you shift its at 6500-6600 which is slightly past peak hp which is good because it puts you in decent position in 2nd. I could get into the whole peak hp vs shift points debate but I'm tired lol.

VDC is almost definitely the reason. Good call BCHalks.
First gear is so short in our cars that it's pretty easy to spin the wheels on a hard shift to second, especially if your tires are old and worn or the ground is wet. The car's VDC systems is sensing the wheelspin and momentarily reducing power to allow the wheels to regain traction, which is why you are feeling the slight sluggishness on a hard, near-redline shift to second gear.
Try it with the VDC off and see if it still does it.... chances are it won't. Just be careful, because the car might start to get loose if you shift too hard/fast into second gear, so make sure you do it in a controlled situation like a parking lot or an empty road with nothing near you to hit in case your car gets out of control.
