DEBADGE FAIL!!!! [Pics Inside]
There was some over spray on the rear pumper and tail lights. Took it back this morning and they wet sanded it off and polished it out. Looks like glass now. I still have the Fuji (is that what the infinit logo is called? hah) I might stick it back on there. Im looking to get a front bumper next. I also have a buddy that has some springs that I might get from him and lower it about 1.5 inches. Thoughts?
It will stay polished to a high gloss. It doesnt wear off like a glaze or a wax. You are actually making the material shine, unlike adding something shiney like a wax or a glaze on top of it.
It should still look pretty nice after the fact.
Saywat....wet sanding is exactly like it sounds, very fine sand paper and water to remove surface blemishes. Then it's buffed using a high speed buffer and compound to bring back the gloss. After all this it's waxed using a quality wax to retain what you see in these pic. It will never get dull and fugly again kept clean, wax doesn't actually wear off....Gary
Are you the original owner?
I can tell you as a professional detailer that the trunk had been re-painted prior to this, the orange peel is inconsistent with the surrounding panels, especially the back bumper which typically has slightly more orange peel than the metal panels. That's most likely the reason you have the abrasions in the paint, I've done many, many de-badges and have never seen this problem on factory paint. Also, they did a pretty nice job on the re-paint from what I can tell in the pics. Except for the overspray.

The damage was there before the de-badge, the actual de-badge did not cause any damage. De-badging the back of our cars gives it a MUCH cleaner look, along with it being symmetrical, which is why some people choose to do it. Most, including me leave the Mt. Fuji there so it's not bare and still obviously an Infiniti.
