Sunroof help.

So the other day I opened my sunroof and it didn't want to close after. After closing the sunroof manually, I tried to use the button to see if it would work and it didn't. When I press the button I hear a click but nothing happens.

While doing some research I came across a few threads about a screw coming loose but they were all in regards to the v36 sedan. I'm not sure if my 05 coupe and the v36 sedans use the same motor but I don't hear anything which would indicate a loose screw.

So anyway I would just like some feedback and to know for sure if it is the sunroof motor that has gone bad.

Thanks In Advance.

Like every sunroof they need to be cleaned every once in a while or they'll quit working. If you can get it open clean all the rails/joints with a degreaser then carefully apply a little WD40 and check all screws. Coupes or sedans, should all have similar issues....Gary

Would the fact that it could be dirty rails and joints, effect the ability to close the sunroof manually with no problems

it doesnt take much to jam a sunroof. if something small is in the track it will keep it from opening / closing to prevent it from breaking. at least this is what my gf's solara did when a twig was stuck in the track. it would close only half way then open back up on its own. after clean the track out it was back to working normal...

I understand that anything can jam a sunroof, but will a foreign object cause the sunroof to be effected even through it is being closed manually??

If there's something on the track or like you mentioned a screw sticking up....of course! Best find out what the problem is, forcing it might cause some expensive damage....Gary
