Special tools needed to replace the rear hood... But what are they?

Recently my 03 G35 coupe was rear ended requiring the replacement of the trunk hood. I picked up a replacement but then realized I dont have the tools needed as they are not standard. Is it a 'star' wrench that is used and does anyone know the size?

Excellent - at least now i have a starting point... Do these come in metric and standard or is it just one proprietary measurement scale they use? (T4, T5, T6, etc...)

it is one of the medium sizes. id say prolly around a t25 or t30. so id get a set that ranges to at least there... if the car is driveable take it up to a auto parts store and just ask them if you can walk outside with the tool just to check the size and make sure, doesn't hurt to ask

Be careful when working on the trunk, those are some of the softest screws i have ever dealt with. They strip really easily.

ive had to replace mine when installing a strafespeed carbon fiber trunk on my G, these bolts are made to not back out. i drilled out the bolt and then hammered the tool into the hole and took it out that way. From Infinity the bolts are only $6 i believe to replace all 4. Otherwise they're a PITA to take out without stripping or messing up the screw

Yupp. Been there done that. Stripped the screws when I was trying to swap trunks. I was only able to get one out of the 4.

For the cost of the torx set a body shop might swap out trunk lid for you. They have the tools and knowledge, might be worth the cost of having them do it....Gary

Many thanks to all of you. yes, its size 30 Torx. I bought a socket to offer the best leverage. Is there a trick anyone knows of? I figure if the autobody shops can do it, I should be able to...Should I buy a heat gun at home depot or lowes and try and heat it first or is that a waste of time? It actually looks like it was painted after installation so that would appear to be at least part of the problem... Not likely to get any wd-40 in there to loosen it any... Open to suggestions...

Thanx
