I would do it over again. Tho I wish i was more patient explored more options. Was like the 1st G I seen I bought. Grrrr . Didnt know of all the problems the G had at the time. All around fail radios, oil, door locks windows, shakes, noises etc. But till this day after a nice wash, when walking away from the car I still look back at it. And Yea.. She bad!!!

You do not invest in a car unless it is a 30-50 yr old classic sold at auctions. We SPEND money to get back 25% return on investment.

Also, you might want to get your car tuned. Not like one of those Pep Boys tunes. I mean real shop that does dyno tuning. Maybe your car is running rich so they could possibly adjust the gas that your G is putting out through your fuel injectors. They can adjust this with a tune. Could possibly be the problem.
Thanks for that info.. I hope it's the thing u mention about the back seat terminals. I did have a stereo installed and I know they took out the back seat to run the wires. I will look into that. I got 76K miles on it.. and I never had a tune up..

I've had my car ( 2005 Auto-Sport Coupe) for about a year and a half now, and I'm split. I love it and I hate it at the same time, but I can't think of another car that was in my price range that I would buy instead...but if I had a bit more money...CTS-V.

Same here. I've owned my '04 almost five years now. Total non-routine maintenance has cost a whopping $600 (one power window motor, one power door lock actuator).

Our experience has been positive enough I bought my wife a 2009 G37X sedan.

Probably won't replace my coupe with another G though. I don't care for the G37 coupe styling, and I'd like more power. Fortunately there's no rush to upgrade, as I only have about 75,000 miles on my car.

You guys are scarin me lol. I've loved the G35 Coupe since they came out (hate the G37 coupe styling, looks soft). I'm thinking about getting a 05-07 6MT soon from a dealer auction. Is the oil consumption that bad? I'd be doing my own oil changes.

I'm guessing it's a hit or miss whether or not you get one that has a lot of issues? I don't plan on extensively modding it, just sound system, wheels, suspension and body kit (maybe), and the little NA mods. I previously had a supercharged 97 v6 camry http://www.cardomain.com/ride/434662/1997-toyota-camry/

G35 Coupe
Yes, it has a timeless design. I still get compliments being asked if it was a 2012 or 2011. Maybe its b/c i keep the paint shiny .

The Oil Consumption typically isn't that bad, 3-4000 miles/1qt. Just top it off every now and then and you're good. Just make sure the car is in good condition. Sand down the grounds to help the electrical system "breathe". Mine has zero issues that I didn't cause myself.

Also, if I could go back, I would get the RJM Clutch bracket and Motordyne TDX2 exhaust first. I imagine if I did have a body kit, I would get a lot more compliments on the exhaust than the kit.

Nope. Although the G was great and I have fond memories, I bought an Audi and would not look back. For what I paid for the G new ($45,000), you can buy a helluv' a nice car now... Porsche, BMW, Audi, etc, etc... just sayin'

No. Love the looks but had to rebuild the engine. Most of you all that have oc issues, like I did, engine internals will not be good. Sooner or later you must rebuild. But you will be pleasantly surprised with the new found "power"!

I initially was looking at a 2003 Porsche 911, car had issues so I did not buy it. My G35 2005 had a price with which I was more comfortable with especially since I drive about 3750 miles per year. This is a toy for me, nothing more.

Cheers!

I'm going on my 9th year of ownership with my 04 G coupe. Its been consuming oil for the past 140K miles or so. I have 167K miles on it now. I check the levels 1 to 2 times a week and add as needed. I totalled a Mazda RX-8 that required oil every few times at the pump. I was already accustomed to using more oil. I just figure it into the equation of buying gas.

If the engine is going to go out, then I'm curious as to when it should have done so. People talk about it, but I don't think most people keep cars that long or run as many miles as I have. I wouldn't worry about the OC personally. Mine is still fine.
