Would you buy the G again?
#76
Anyway, to answer the original question. I waited about three years after it came out, (I had a brand new Maxima when this car came out), bought an IP 6mt. and was able to get it with every single option I wanted. Kind of hard to say that I wouldn't buy it again since new G37's are in the $50's, (yikes), and really not that much better than our cars. If the replacment coupe is about the same price and has about 400 h.p. I might be in for a new one. The crowd here is entirely different than it was in 03' so not sure if they'd have the same input the ole' guys would have.

would I buy this car again??
absolutely...I bought mine from a dealer that went thru the entire car only putting on brake pads (44,000 mi)
after several weeks I felt the car was not performing as it should, took it to neighbor with laptop and added 2 degrees initial timing and pulled some of the timing out of the top end..upon driving the car with these minor changes found that I was smoking the tires on launch in 1st gear.. 1-2 gear change produced much tire spin. In short this car is incredible. gas mileage is now 27.2 to 27.3 and always uses mid grade 89 octane...never pings...this car is an incredible value for the money...my only change now would be a Z Convertible which is now in my thoughts but with only 56000 I will try and contain my ambitions for a while as this car is a gem..

I absolutely love my car, but to be 100% honest, I'm not sure I'd buy it again if I could go back and do it over. I just don't drive it enough to justify the money I spent on it to buy it new. I mostly drive my Tacoma and Motorcycle so the G only sees about 3-4K miles per year max.... only 2 last year actually.
The only major gripe I really have about my G is that it has nowhere close to the amount of power I want. Aside from that, I love it's looks, the exhaust sound, the feel of driving it and how it handles, etc.
I should have probably bought a different class of car like a Corvette or something, but I don't have a garage... so ehhhh.

I don't agree that most people would rather own a G37. I've owned my G for 10 years this past December. I wouldn't trade it for a G37 IPL. As a matter of fact last month I decided that I wanted a Porsche Caymen S. Found a black 2011 for a good price. Drove it, negiotated a good deal, fair trade for the G....but, at the last minute I just couldn't give up the G.

Maybe with a warranty or one with no issues, and MOAR HP.
Wishes: More power. Louder VQ exhaust. An F.I. model would be nice. I mean the IPL is their "Performance Line" and yet it's nearly the same thing as a Sport model G37 looks and power wise.
I'm personally not a huge fan of the OEM front bumper on the coupes. Seems a little too simple for an Infiniti name. The Inven is more intimidating. K2 looks more like a normal car with all the huge vent holes.
Complaints: Window motors went out really quickly along with brakes, but I know I come to hard stops a lot. Drive around with windows down often too. Really annoying rattle coming from the windshield and dashboard area. Another rattle coming from passenger door during drives even with no music on. Seats creek when I lean left or right during a turn. Radio signal sucks tremendously. CD player skips a lot even when car isn't running. Center console/cup holder creaks like a 200 year old house's staircase, when opened. Tried WD40, but didn't work. Same with seat frames. A lot of road noise for a heavy-ish car. Thought there'd be more insulation and good sealing. Infamous driver seat rip near the outer bolster and the lean thing. Bit of hell just to swap out a headlight bulb.. I mean 20 push-pins and some screws, then squeezing my arms and hands into tight places to barely be able to swap something in.

I absolutely loved the car since they came out in 2003. I told my dad after the Chicago Auto Show I was going to own one and he told me to start saving my pennies. Bought one 2 years ago and can't think of another car I would want to own that I can actually afford. Was really torn between the G and the Z but the G just makes more sense and (IMO) has more curb appeal. No matter what I would've bought it would be modded so mod on I say
