Tinting allowed in Cali for font is 70%. How light is that? Can anyone post a pic of their coupe with a light tint? I'm getting my coupe next week and I don't want the tint to be too dark or light. Any suggestions on tint %??

 

20% all around except front windshield is nice.

 

I'm going 20 all around (not the windshield of course) Getting Tint and full Clear bra done for $725, Only problem is I am gonna be the first CB install that this guy is doing but I trust the place that I am getting it done at so I know if anything goes wrong they'll take care of it.

 

Sorry man but according to CHP no tint AT ALL is legal on your side windows. Trust me on that I have already been through it once with my last car. CHP told me the tint film not only obstructs your view and theirs but it prevents the tempered glass from shattering into small pieces. This can cause serious injuries during an auto accident. Now that I said all that legal junk I can tell you I did 20% all the way around and it looks phat. I just recommend you get tint protection just in case. [img]/w3timages/icons/cool.gif[/img] Peace.

Are you sure, b/c i heard the same thing....70% on the side windows and no limit on the rest. IMO though 70% is not even worth wasting your money on.

 

From what I have recently read 70% on the fron tIS legal, and the back windows whatever you want. I disagree about it's not worth it.......IF you want to stay legal and only want 70% on the front.....do it! The UV protection to your interior and YOUR SKIN is well worth the money.....trust me on this one! ~75% (I believe) of all facial skin cancers on men occur on the left side of their face.....due to driving?? Hmmm. Trust me, just do it!

I prefer darker and will probably limo (5%) the back windows and do 20% on the fronts.

All the windows on the G's are already UV sheilded. The only reason anyone would get their car tinted is to get the smoked glass effect. Check it out... "UVS" etched on the glass. If you go to your local tint shop, they should have a UV tester. I checked mines... at the UV block is over 99%.

 

jhc.. it depends on whether you are getting a graphite or willow interior. I have BS with graphite and I got medium (apx. 35%) on fronts, and it looks very dark because of the dark interior. No need for 20%.

 

Raj, that's what the CHP told me after I got my ticket. By law no after market tint to the front side windows or windshield, no exceptions. Of course I'm sure there may be Police Officers that would interpret it differantly or we would all be in jail, heh. [img]/w3timages/icons/cool.gif[/img]

i'll second Cameron38 comments. i have BS/Graphite with 32% tint and it looks way dark. not limo, can't see a damn thing dark, but a "i can't believe that's medium?" dark.

`i am in southern cal and tint has always been on my cars. The guy who tints usually gives me a freebie to remove and replace for a fix-it ticket. A hassle but, I only had to do it once...the thing is, half of the cops I know have tint on their wives cars too!

 

i live in mass. and just tinted my windows. i got 20% on the rear and 35% on the sides. mass only allows 35% or lighter.

I've been pulled over for speeding (in my truck) and had the cop comment on my light driver's side window tint. He basically said, "Not a problem as long as we can see you clearly".

Knowing this, I always roll down my windows BEFORE they approach the car. Also, a pleasant and cooperative demeanor can't hurt.
