Question 6th Gear for 5AT?

I was looking through Performance Nissan one day and I found this: http://www.performancenissanparts.co...oducts_id=1962
So if I were to install this for my G, if I use the Manumatic mode, would I be able to "shift" into 6th gear?

I'm no expert but I don't think that adds a 6th gear. It just changes the gear ratio and allows for higher RPM's before gear shifts.

Yea, the only way to add a 6th gear is to get down and dirty with the gear box, almost not worth the work on an auto.

I heard the installation for that item is pretty expensive. About $800 just for labor!

You are probrably better off adding a Y Pipe and getting the additional acceleration through it. Less cost and risk to your warranty and you get to keep your top end performance.

What do you mean by adding a y pipe? I haven't heard of that mod yet. Are you talking about the exhaust?

Yep its part of the exhaust. Unlimited Tuning makes a good one from what I here. That's the route I think that I am going next. It adds a few more ponies throughout the RPM rang according to dynos. Unlimited Tuning claims 9 to 12 (I'm not sure if they are referring to this at the crank or at the wheels) But people have reviewed it and said that they have noticed a little more pickup down low.

Is a y pipe a downpipe? If so, that could probably make the car extremely loud. Especially if you have an after market exhaust.

That's a new ring and pinion for the rearend. It mathematically changes all the 5MT transmission gearing to a higher number for improved accelleration/ lower top speed.
With the higher rpm's in each gear, it would have a negative affect on gas mileage, and would have a negative affect on warranty too....lol.

Altho a very good mod for performance, you're better of leaving it alone.
