Is it time to upgrade??
The G has a very nice shape to it, timeless? ehhhh doubtful but you never know. But like it was said earlier, compared to the way newer cars are starting to look it might just become true. Put a nice clean G next to most of the garbage that these comparatively prices manufacturers are peddling out and its a no brainer. A lot of people are shocked when I tell them that my car is 10 years old already.

G35 sedan w/ too much money in mods

I still like my G as much as anyone here. But with all due respect, i've heard that same "timeless" line for almost 20 years now. Very very rarely does a mass production car actually become timeless. It's usually some exotic car that get remembered fondly...and even that's rare.
I know, I know, everyone will disagree. But here's the thing, it'll take another 5-10 years from now before you can look back and realize your beloved car was just "meh."
Take the 300ZX (1990-1996) for example. Huge following and big love back in the days. I swear people talked about it like God Himself drove one. Fast forward to today, find a nice pic of a ZX, then look at today's Z or G, and tell me how you feeel about the ZX now.....

I will disagree to a point. I had a 72 Cutlass 442 back in high school in the late 70's and there isn't a day I don't remember that car fondly and wish I still had it. Some cars just evoke a certain emotion in people and stay with them forever. I truly believe I'll still remember my G and wish I had her when she's long gone. I've owned a lot of cars over my lifetime and the only 2 that I have been truly attached to were the 442 and the G. Does that make the G timeless, to me it absolutely does. Don't really care what other people think of her. I think the 1st gen coupes are unique looking enough with a nice balance of semi-luxury and performance that they will be held in high regard for a long time. Their overall long-term reliability will help that IMHO.
What doesn't help is all the clueless idiots that are picking them up on the cheap and ricing them out. Makes me want to puke.
Yea I agree with the ricer comments. It's been troubling to see a lot of G's riced out recently. Unfortunately it's what happens to popular imports when prices go below $15k. That being said.... I think the fate of the GT-R will be different since it's in that supercar category.
A riced out car is a riced out car - it doesn't mater what make/model it is. It also doesn't necessarily justify the generalization of "since one of them is rice, they must all be rice." Although some cars, such as Honda Civis or Acura Integras, have particularly nasty stigmas concerning rice, I still give props to the select few who do pull off clean mods. There are some super respectable Civics out there despite the sea of crappy ones and those are the ones that matter. Sure, the G35 may be headed in the more accessible group of cars for younger children to scoop up (the Z's have it worse), but as long as you do the right thing to your car, it doesn't matter what the next 10 do - your's will still be sexy. No *real* car modding/tuning enthusiast can disagree with that. Opinions of hippies driving Prius' don't matter either. Same thing with soccer moms driving vans.
Keep it tasteful and you'll be fine.
