Grinding noise after starting and driving

I experience a grinding noise every time I drive after being parked for few hours. It feels like it is my hand brake and it just grinds for 3-4 seconds and then it is gone. Also, it happens a lot when the direction is downhil.
Is it possible to be ABS self-check?
It has always been that way and I have 7600 miles on the car. I asked the dealer once and they said it is ok.
I just feel with a car of this level, this noise is a bit embarrassing.
Thank you for your input.

Can you be a bit more specific? Where does the noise sound like it's coming from? Does it happen right at startup or when you pull away? When you do a specific action? Have you had the e-brake checked or adjusted by the dealer? Maybe the e-brake shoe is rubbing on the inside of the rotor.

Lokoto, I get the same noise when I back my G out of a parking space or my garage when it has been sitting for a while. I haven't been using the parking brake when I park the car but I hear the noise. I tend to ride the brake when I back out of my garage and thats when I hear it the most. I have had the car for almost 3 weeks with 1000 miles on it. I am thinking it could be from the cold weather, any ideas?

It happens when I pull away and only when going down hill. I always use my e brake while parked and have to pull it pretty tight as it doesn't hold well. I had the brake adjusted from the dealer after purchasing the car as the e brake was too loose and even though they did tighten it, it still feels the same. The noise comes from underneath and you are probably right thinking it could be the brake shoe rubbing. Have I damaged my brake. I have driven it for 11 months and 7600 miles?
Thanks for your help.
