Holy cow, cabin filter expensive!
So I called Beaverton Infiniti, and they wanted $70 for the cabin air filter! I went to the local Nissan dealer, and picked it up for $30. Is there something special about the Infiniti filter? Someone said Nissan has like a plasma ionic filter or something. Is that $70?
I was going to get a Purolator/Wix one, but the local places don't stock them, and said they can't order them, even tho their online store has it.
With shipping, it was the same price as the Nissan dealer.... I got the one for the Murano. Hopefully it's the right one. According to Wix and Purolator's web site, they cross reference the same filter as the G, so hopefully I'm good.

I don't really know if there is something special about it or not. But, I was kind of expecting the price that you were quoted. I'm going in for my "free" brakes pretty soon, and I was going to get a new battery and cabin filter as well, after 2 years of ownership. However, I'm not surprised at the price.

In fact, looking at the filter, and how flimsy it is, it looks like it shouldn't cost more than 50 cents. I mean, 40"x25" furnace filters at Home Depot can be had for 79 cents, if you get the el-cheapo ones.

Also, that thing gets disgustingly dirty. I changed mine out at 12,000 miles and it was NASTY! I will not wait that long next time!

BTW, a search would have turned up the same info.

Check out Gordgee's Activated Carbon Hepa filter. I got one several months ago, and it's built a lot better than the OEM filter, and he sells it to members for a lot cheaper than the dealer charges for the crappy Infiniti ones. I bought one for a friend for Christmas for his FX 45, and he loves it! Cuts down some road odors like tar and smoke.
Definitely worth the money, and the instructions are easy to follow so you can save a big chunk of labor. It should take only about 1/2 hour to install. I did mine when I installed my GroundingGear, so it's a no-brainer to do it at the same time.
Gord's one of the Admins on this site, so just PM him for the price.
